The PO for my Pro-Jection unit told me to go get a tach to hook up so I could properly tune the unit and test it. He'd already done this stuff for me on his, but we figured it a lot needs re-done.
Autozone had some tachs for $40.00 that look like they get mounted in the dash. Is this what I want, or do I need something specific from elsewhere? Or do I shop for the lowest priced tach I can find?

I have a real neat tach/tool made buy sunpro. This is for diagnostic apps only but works well for tuning. It is a hand held tack with an 12ft power lead. Works great and can hook it up in about 2 sec. If you are wanting a permanent tach I would look at sunpro as well. Inexpensive and come in all kinds of different sizes.

i put in the sunpro mini-tach when i installed the pro-jection. it is mounted to the steering column with a large hose clamp, and pops up into position when in drive.

I too have the sunpro mini-tach and it works great for me. It cost about $35 or so.

speaking of tachs.......I am looking for a small digital tach, I have heard they exist but can't find one....my ashtray is nonexistent so I want to fab a small aluminum plate to cover the hole and then mount a tach into the aluminum plate for a sano install.....so tach must be pretty small......any ideas?

That's a really cool digital one. If it were a little cheaper I'd do the same thing. But I went out last night and founf that mini-Sunpro for $35 at Autozone. Let me know how it goes. Maybe someday when I'm rich . . .
