I will be moving to Pheonix in the middle of June and had a couple of questions for the guys already there.
It seems like there are many more boneyards in AZ with parts for wagons then anywhere else I have looked. Is this true? Where I am now in East Texas there is not a single wagon in any junkyard for 100 miles. What are some of the best AZ boneyards for finding early(75) and cheap wagon parts?
Also what areas are available for legal 4 wheeling? Nothing too extreme, just trails or dunes I can take the family on. A place to wheel and camp would be awesome.
Thanks to all in advance.
Oh and are there any FSJ clubs I should consider in AZ?

If anyone could post some pics of the places to go in AZ that would be awesome.
Don't know about the FSJ in AZ... BUT The guys in AZ go wheeling often:fsj: . Check the Events section. Wish I could meet up with them:( . I did meet a few of them from AZ in Ouray last year. :drivin:
Good Luck with the move.. Maybe one day I'll make it west..

Go to the high country for the first few months. Won't find too many partners up for 115 degree desert runs. Hopefully I'll have my wag sorted by then. right now the springs are so whacked I thought they were on upside down,

The one thing that comes to mind is emitions. Phoenix is strict from what I've heard. If you look in the Events board here you'll find a post from Gwinn, our leader that keeps us informed via e-mail. There are quite a few FSJers in that area and they try to get together once a monthfor something. Gas prices being what they are, I dont get to go, married with children and such. If you send Gwinn a private message, he should be able to answer most of your questions.
Oh, and WELCOME, always nice to see another Jeep in Az.......
I see your a Paramedic, Prescott could use a few if you dont like the heat, LOL........

Well east texas isnt known for being cold in the summer so I think I will be ok. I went there couple months ago and fell in love with the hills and mountains. Came back to Texas and looked around at flat land and said honey lets move.........
I've spent July and August in Houston before, not sure how I survived that one. Phoenix is much easier to take in the summer. It's as harsh in reality I'm sure..
Being from the "humidity belt" here in KY, I found that hot and dry temps in the west beat the heck out of the hot and wet temps back here.
I remember my first trip out west. We got into Vegas at sunset and it was still 120 degrees. 2 days later we went to Death Valley. We could of cooked steaks on the hood but it was too hot to eat..

Its to hot in phoenix for me, and living in Flagstaff is the way to go for no emissions test. I LOVE IT:thumbsup:
There are trails everywhere, in the summer go up to Sedona, Flagstaff and other areas for camping, the weather is a lot nicer. Cinder Hills OHV in Flagstaff is a nice place to wheel, I was suprised with what my Chero could do, I love V-8's.

There are countless areas to 4-wheel here. Up North, or at night, in the deserts during the summer, and in the desert, or up in the snow in the winter. You want it, we got it. Camping and wheelin' anywhere you want for the most part. Areas from nobody for days to the places closer to town that are crowded.
Most wonderful FSJ types here also. We do quite a bit, from easy to hard wheelin'. Do a search here and look at some of the pics.
Emissions are as hard as you make them. 75 FSJ should be easy. Look some of us up before you go get sniffed the first time so we can give you some "helpful pointers".
Welcome.

Yeah, you are in for a treat! AZ has almost all kinds of wheeling within less than a days' drive. Sand dunes to the west, forest and pines to the North and desert surrounding the Phoenix area. Lots of bone yards too and lots of FSJ folks with parts. Its a good group of friends and we are pretty active for a unoffical club. :fsj:
If it is a 75 we should get you past emissions without too much trouble. The CO2 and Hydro is pretty generous. I don't think you need a CAT. Like Ralph said, we can help you out.

You may not already be here but WELCOME to AZ
June is definitely gonna be hot but I'm sure you will like it dry versus the humid there in TX!
Check out the AZFSJC in the events section ... we just went to Box Canyon and Martinez Cabin here last weekend. We are now planning a run for mid-May and I'm sure we will have more runs as the months roll on. With any luck we will have another Meet and Greet as well.
Taek it easy with your move and we will see ya when you get here!
