Okay guys and gals, time for a poll!

Ive been messing with photoshop for the past few days trying out different looks on my truck.

I have tried a few different shots of my truck with 4 different mirror combinations: low-profile, current (oversized with mini tripod arms), classic Jeep tripods, and the old mirrors that were on the truck when I bought it. I also added the rollbar in a few shots.

Check out the pictures here:

-Personally I think the big tripods are THE classic Jeep look... but Im not sure it would look right on my truck...
-Im also fond of the low-profile mirrors, but they are on my new waggy and Ive found them difficult to see out of.
-The current mirrors look goofy in my opinion
-IMO the old mirrors are average looking. They arent good or bad.

What mirrors would you put on my truck?

I like the old wag style, 2 bolts, thin metal/glass frame. early 70s. They work well enough. Big ole blindspots in these station wagons, no matter what you do.

The ones in this photo are mid-90s Ford pickup mirrors. They're about twice the size of the original low profile units and mounted where they are on the door, they give a very good field of view. I tow a car trailer, and these things stick out plenty far enough to easily do the job. Depends if you want to update the look or keep it classic I suppose.

I say go with west coast mirrors. They come in all shapes and sizes and work better then the tripods for towing. Some of the (like mine) fold pretty much flush with the cab.

Here is an old pic.

It depends what look you are going for. The little Wag mirrors look sporty and are ok for street driving but do have limited visibility. The big tripods have good visibility but seem a bit clumsy. The current ones say "JC Whitney" to me. :D

The roll bar looks good. Nice beefy lights. That reminds me, I never did adjust that center one. ;)

The little bitty Wag mirrors suck, my wife's Jetta has larger mirrors....

I favor the low mount swing aways ( kind of "u" shaped brackets of flat stock) on the mid to late 90's Fords. If you put the upper mount on the 3/4 to 1" wide style line just below the windows, they sit level.

lol!
thats our 86 iveco. Used to haul newspapers in it til the engine blew up. The guy we brought it to was one of the better diesel guys in the area. He was short on time and had an assistant do the work and the assistant poured ether in the carb and it blew a hole in the top of the piston. They refused to admit they did anything wrong
That box holds something very special in it.

I have the low profile mirrors on mine, and honestly my pasenger side is useless. Better just to use my neck and look. my vote is tri pod

I like my u style mount mirrors, you can swap just about anything onto them and they still work, plus they are tree friendly.

I like the look and power of the stock mirrors, but I can't see eff all in them. If I find some towing extensions that match them I'll run 'em. Other than that Mid eighties Ford Ranger mirrors go with pretty much everything.

I'd go with the 4-point mount towing mirrors myself. I used the standard Jeep tripod mirrors and wish I could turn them sideways.

Let me make this easy for you, sell me the truck and you won't have to worry anymore. :D

I like the tripods and west coast mirrors on the trucks although the 80's ford mirrors look good too.

For Cherokee's and Wags I think the 80's or 90's ford mirrors look good, but I still can't make up my mind about the others. I had been thinking about starting a poll on this subject but figured I would wait till I was ready for mirrors.

I bought a travel trailer today, and the mirrors on my Wag are crap. I can't see a thing. I'll follow this thread closely and throw in a hijack question: if you switch out the small mirrors, what is the best way to fill in the hole?

good question, i was going to ask it after i figured on the right mirror.

Has anyone put the wrangler mirror on a FSJ or lined it up to see if it would work? Im going to rip some out of the junkyard and see how they line up. I would go with a chrome mirror like these: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=KTL%2D30475&N=700+4294925242+4294839007+4294846712+4294908280+ 4294907384+4294806411+115&autoview=sku

Right now my favorites are the classic tripod, the ford mirror, and the wrangler mirror.

I should have know a jeep guy would go for the aftermarket chrome(bling) ones!!:D

If you are getting ready to paint it, it's the best time.
I welded all my old holes closed. Just about anything else like bondo will just vibrate and crack out in a year.

i tried that...TJ mirrors sit too low.

Thats what I was afraid of. It looks like half of the passenger side mirror might get cut off from sitting too low.
