I found these wheels from a company and ordered them up to make sure they would work on one of our FSJ's. I put them on my cherokee and I think they look pretty good.

The specs are 17x8 with a 4" backspacing. They will work on my W/T Cherokee but I am not sure if they would clear the springs on a N/T Wag. I will be bolting these on a Wag soon just to find that out.
By the way, they are not Mickey Thompson wheels (I just used a M/T cap).

These are 35x12.50R17 tires and yes, I know I am going to respray the frame and springs to get rid of the overspray...

Nice find. Those wheels look pretty close to the oem 5 slots.

Yeah, I always liked that look but 15x7's don't look right on a W/T. The company I found them from said if I order 50 wheels of any size they can build whatever I want....

So will BJ's be offering these wheels then?
16" 8 lug wheels would be awsome. All of the 5 slot 8 lug wheels that I have found have been 16.5".

Didnt MT stop making these wheels? I remember wanting a set several years back, but then they disapeared.

Ansen Sprint's right? I saw they were makin them for 6-lugs now. I wish those would have been out before I polished up my stock wheels. I think 17's would really set my Wagon off. They sure look nice on your rig. Someday...

Brent, give us a side shot showing the whole rig. The wheels are nice, again it's a throw-back to the retro old school with the new school bleed over (17" wheels).
Slowly chugging along on the Cherokee huh? Keep it up though, it's coming together.

Stuka, they aren't Mickey Thompson wheels -- I just used a M/T cap since I had one laying around.... When M/T stopped having Alcoa make their rims, they discontinued this rim.

Ansen Sprint's, I hadn't heard of them until now. The Ansen SPrints are 17x8 with a 4.5" backspacing which I am almost positive wouldn't work...

Those look great. I love that old school style. I was really disappointed when M/T discontinued that style. Good to see that someone is picking them up again. A 6 lug 16x7 or 16x8 with the 3 5/8 backspacing would make me a happy guy. What brand are they?

American Racing has started reproducing the old Ansen Spring wheel:

I've been looking at these as they are really close to the original wheels on my '76 CJ-5 Renegade.

Yes, I saw those but as of right now the backspacing of 4.5" (all they offer in a 6 lug) won't work on an FSJ...

I like them. I think I've seen some five slots just like that made by some vintage style wheel company, I completely forget the name though. They didn't call them five slots either, they had another fitting name for the shape of the slot. Am I kinda on the mark there?

whats the word?
well if you end up getting a 15" or 16" - 6 lug pattern then youve got my money just as soon as i can afford new wheels and tires (was hoping for this summer but it doesn't look like it. maybe next spring).
I would prefer a 15x9 or 15x10, but i could settle on a 16"
this is cool, ive been eye-balling the ansen sprint for months now wishing they had the proper backspacing
buuuuuuuuuuump
so... whats the good word? the more i think about putting 17 inch wheel on a fsj the more i like the idea

I've been doing more searching on wheels.
Found this thread and think the slots in 16 or 17" rim size would look perfect on my Gladiator.
Any more news on this wheel or company making them?
I've thought about recentered & widened Hummer beadlocks for an old school look with the bolts and nuts showing, but kind of going with chrome look for this old truck. And want to get away from 16.5 tire size.

Mickey Thompson used to make a wheel similar to this, they were called the Challenger. They discontinued them when they stopped having Alcoa make their wheels. Plus, I don't think they ever made them in 17's.

I guess it is. When I re-read my post it sounds like I am being rude, I didn't mean for it to come off like that.
Basically, a lot of the items that we sell we will not tell our customers who the manufacturer is. We do this so we can keep our market and our competitors won't carry the same speciality parts that we do.
Thanks...

Since most Jeepers unfamilar with FSJ think the 5 SLOT is factory, how about some custom 8 lugs SLOTS?
There were quite a few interested in the 8 lugs.
How many orders to reprogram machining center?
Wonder how much Boyd Coddington charges?
I'd go $1500 for a set of 16x10's if that helps get this going immediately.
I know you've been testing the interest in the FSJ market for the 6 lugs and probably want to see how well those sell before you offer 8 lug. But it looks like Champion beat you to the speciality market.
What's the load rating on them ?

This is something we are definetely looking into. From what I can see, we would have to buy quite a few sets but we are in discussion with the manufacturer about this. It will probably be middle of next year before we come out with something in 8-lug.

I'll give a couple of examples but tire prices vary so much between brands and tread designs that this is a difficult question to answer. I am going to quote out Pro-Comp Mud Terrains first:
33x12.50R17: $230 each
35x12.50R17: $250 each
Pro-Comp All Terrain:
265/70R17 (about 31.5" tall x 10.5" wide): $215
285/70R17 (about 33" tall x 11.5" wide): $215
33x12.50R17: $200
35x12.50R17: $225
Thanks.

I was already thinking on where to drop ship my new 16X10" 8 lug slots. That's what I did for beadlocks on the real deal M/T Alcoa's. Hoping you could get the $1500 offer done from you're supplier to speed the 8 lug into action. I can't wait a year.

I think they would look fine but you would probably want to keep a 31" tall tire which is about LT265/70R17.
