hI ALL,
VERY JAZZED ABOUT MY "NEW" 80 CHEROKEE. One thing i would like to change is the low back front seats... I got rear ended in a 65 mustang a few years ago and my back/neck has never been the same since. i really want something with head and neck support.
if i go down to my local bone yard, will the grand waggy seats bolt right in?
what year did jeep start making the high back seats?
do the grand waggy seats tilt forward to allow acess to the reear seat (since the GW are 4 door and my cherokee is 2 door, etc)
any other simple bolt in swaps that any of ya all have done?
thanks much

No, the GW power seats do not tilt forward. Others have installed two door Explorer seats successfully with a little fabbing. Or, you can pick up a pair of CJ/YJ aftermarket seats. They bolt down to the FSJ brackets.
These are the seats I installed. They are replacement seats for the CJ/YJ and do tilt forward with the use of that round knob at the rear bottom of the seat.

I went to the local pic and pull (a little disconcerting, no FSJ's at all i remember tons of them before).. anyway, they did have a 2 door XJ cherokee with nice folding seats.
anyone know if the XJ fit in without major fab?
also, a real nice set in a bronco II, but they seemed pretty tall, has anyone tried those?
thanks

I'm pretty sure the 2-door xj and the yj seats are the same.

I used 2003 Jeep Cherokee seats . I mounted the passage seat a bit forward so back seaters can still get in .

with the explorer seats (or the yj.. or any for that matter)
do you mount the seats onto the jeep floor brackets?
or do you put the seat anf bracket into the jeep.
the brackets look different on how they mount to the floor between the vehicles (obviously).. so how would one get the brackets to fit the floor pans?
ie. the xj floor pan has a hump in the front transversing the truck, my FSJ is flat. obviously the xj bracket will not work (unless i use washers, etc...)
as there was a plethora of 2 seat explorers at the bone yard, i would be interested in hearing on how those mount up.
thanks.

The Exploder sets fit well i used the jp. mounts because of the floor/trans hump..you could bend them out and mount them flat but it will put the seats too clse to the door . they are comfortable and supportive.

How difficult was it to mount the explorer seats to the jeep brackets?
