Undo the two clips that retain the Cap, pull cap off, then lift Rotor, replace. Put Spark Plug wires on new cap as they are on old one, EXACTLY. Real easy job. ;)

I changed mine on account of the shaft wobbled some. It is a pretty easy job. Disconnect all the leads and label them so you know where they go back. Disconnect the vacuum advance hose. Take off the cap and note where the rotor points. Make a mark on the housing and on the motor as a reference so that you can get the new one into the same orientation. That way your initial timing will be in the ballpark. Undo the hold down clamp. Pull the dizzy straight up out of its bore. Mine was very tight so I had to really work to get it out. Hopefully yours will lift right out. DO NOT MOVE THE TRUCK OR TURN THE ENGINE OVER AFTER THIS POINT. Put your new rotor into the new dizzy in the same orientation as the old one. Put the new dizzy back into the bore in the same orientation as the old one. There are gears down inside so you might have to fiddle/fenagle some to get it meshed right. Put the hold down clamp back on but not too tight yet. Put the cap back on the same way the old one came off. You have to be sure the wires are routed to the correct plugs. Put the connections back together (mine was just a plug). Stick a golf tee in your vacuum advance hose to plug it up while you set your timing. Hook up your timing light, start it up--should start right away if you did everything right. Set your timing according to the decal on the radiator cowl, tighten down the clamp. Put the vacuum advance hose back on. You're done. Go drive the truck until warmed up and re-check timing.
A special wrench for the hold down clamp is very useful...a few bucks at the parts store where you got the dizzy.

Hey Crash,
Learn from my "frank up", this is a good one.....
I replaced the old dist w/ a remanufactured one.
I marked all the reference points for dropping new one in. It dropped it right in to place w/ no hastle at all,and she fired right up. smile.gif
Well, the wife and I get ready to head into town. I start the Jeep up and go to pull out from carport. Something did not feel right like no power. I figure I may have been 1 tooth off.I remarked the dist, and went to advance it and missed the new marks it would not start. I then realize the reason she felt powerless.....I SET THE E-BRAKE to prevent it from rolling while dropping the new dist in and forgot to releas it when pulling out!!!!!! I spent 2 day getting it back in sync.DOOOH :(
What can I say? I franked up on that one! :D
