All in all, I think this first Texas FSJ invasion was a success. 23 people showed.
Lots of fun was had by all with a day filled with meeting people, wrenching, parts swapping, looking at FSJ's, BSing about FSJ's, skeet shooting, a Texas style steak BBQ, beer drinking, and a big bon fire to top it off late into the morning hours.
As it got later into the evening the BSing seemed to have a rise in activity and a few new nicknames were earned.
One of the highlights was Willie's Cummins powered M715. Too many mods and HD parts to mention here but it is definietley one of the finest M715's around. Several of us went to his house and saw his IH crewcab 60 ton 6x6 rockcrawler/tow rig. You have to see this totally custom built rig to believe it.
Kudu's to Janie and Bill who drove the farthest, about 7 hours, to make this event. We really enjoyed their company this weekend.
We just finished a steak and egg brunch with those survivors from last night and are getting ready to hit the road to go back to our respective homes.
All in all, it was a blast and I bet someone posts up some pics later.

It seems that wherevre wheelers get together, the more long necks are destroyed, the wilder the stories and nicknames get. Sounds like a great time had by all.
Cab ever get down there?
Tried to get rid of one of your "rodent control devices" for ya the other day:D one of the members had a mouse/tailpipe issue.

Goldhammer, I have not picked up the crewcab yet but hope to do so within the next month or so. I have my Chevy crew cab long bed frame ready to go for it.
J-10Mike, Janie always wears a sidearm in addition to the weapons of choice in her truck. The only time she has to take it off is when she goes into a bank or check it in at the bar according to Texas law.
There are lots of reasons to wear a sidearm and I am pretty sure Janie never ever fully settled up with that pesky vacuum salesman!

I'm pretty sure her and Bill had matching pieces as well.

Like has been said FSJeeper. Thanks for the hospitality.

Pascal's land contains more than a few rattlesnakes. Granted, a shotgun would make more sense, but I just didn't feel like lugging around a long-gun all day.
Back on topic. It was an absolutely fantastic weekend.

This was the first FSJ gathering that i've ever been to and had a blast! Between the skeet shooting, Willie's unreal M715 and Int 60ton 6x6, the engine pull, and the barbeque, i dont know what i liked best. Thanks again to Pascal for letting us invade!

Brett and everyone else thanks for helping pull the driveline out of the parts truck, and Brett for the use of your tools. Also thanks for loading it up Sunday since I had to get the "vroom vroom boy" home to bed.
I also just wanted to say thanks for helping entertain Garrett and making the event enjoyable for Christie. She was somewhat leary about "hanging out with a bunch of jeepers". But she had a good time and made a GREAT friend named "Codie". LOL

LOL, and that was a great call Janie. When you saw me drinking my first beer you nabbed me and we loaded that puppy up. There is absolutely no way possible in the universe it would have gotten loaded up Sunday morning and it would still be sitting.
I really feel bad though cause it appears that was a new rebuilt motor Gary got in the trade deal we did and I forgot to cover the motor up in the back of the J-10. I figure we have gotten about an inch of rain out there since then. I am sure rain got in the crispy new cylinder bores and Gary is now going to have to do a tear down and clean up of that motor.
I guess he should have stayed until the job was done.

Your trying to get me riled up huh? Tearing the motor down was in the plans anyway. I want to use it as a backup for the one in the cherokee.
Really is too bad that it didn't say 401 on the side :P

At the very minimum I would fill the cylinders with oil and turn it over by hand real slow. Hopefully the rings have not rusted to the cylinder walls being on a few miles from the salty gulf of mexico humid air. If you are lucky, you'll only need rings and a good honing.
However, from experience, I was changing out the injection pump on the 4 Wheel Steer tug and left the intake manifold off for a week. The engine was covered but not sealed. I can't get it to turn over at all and am now going to swap out the whole engine. No telling how actual water in the cylinder bores will effect it. Hopefully they are totally full up to the valves and the rain water is coming out of the carb. That way less oxygen will get in there and you have a fighting chance of not having to re-bore and buy new pistons.
Good luck buddy!

Pascal,
I helped you wrap a tarp around that motor and trans and then you ran ratchet straps across the whole thing. Unless the wind whipped up to a 100 mph and tore the tarp off, it should all be fine.
Then again, if your just trying to get vroom vrrom boy all whipped up....................GOOD ONE!

Sorry I missed this. I had no idea about it otherwise I would have been there. Would have been two M715's there. Victoria is only a short hop skip and a jump away. Maybe next time.

PC, there would have been 5 M715's out there buddy. I have 2 and one in parts, Willie's, and yours. I'll shoot you an email next time we have one. You and your family would have had a blast.
