I am currently running a large fram filter (maybe 1.5 -2 in diameter and 2.5 inch long) its the cheap 4 dollar clear one that you can get at any parts store.
In the morning when its cool the fuel filter is full when the vehicle is running. later in the day after it warms up and the vehicle has been ran there will be very little fuel in the filter. i dont think i am hitting full vapor lock since i can always start the jeep in 2-3 seconds but even when it runs and its hot the filter will not fill up.

SO my thought is by going to a smaller diameter fuel filter (maybe .5 inch) this would reduce the amount of air that could get into the filter and expand to the point of forcing the fuel back down the line towards the tank.

thoughts?

i kinda had that problem yesterday for the first time. i used to use the filter with one inlet and one outlet....never had a problem. just to be "sure" i never got vapor lock i switched to the kind with an extra vent on the outlet side to prevent vapor lock...and sure thing the gasses built up and it gave me a fight when starting up. let me know what works if you get the problem sorted out.

roadgrime;
... If it is air in the filter you see and the filter is before the pump you have a leak in the fuel line. Other wise it is gasoline vapor you are seeing.

... Today's gasoline has a boiling point ranging from 180 degrees to 430
degrees Fahrenheit (at sea level) and can be lowered by about 20% at14,000 feet
