I am interested in the Revolver Shackles for my jeep, i have a 1980 Cherokee. right now i have a 4" superlift, but want to get a rustys 6" soon. I'd just like to know which ones to get, i heard i need to get them for an XJ but i'm not sure exactly. And i'd like to know if i can get them for the back, or if htat would work. Also i heard they will lift the jeep a little bit. how much is a little bit? thanks in advance.

Yes, the xj's are the ones. And you have to do a shackle flip in the rear to use them in the back. They should add about 3/4"+- lift. I have mine on the front, and they do flex like crazy!

ok about the shackle flip, how is that done. i don't understand what i'm to do, or how much lift its going to give me. thanks. oh yeah do i need any special shocks to go with the revolvers?

On a 76 or newer SJ the shackle flip is a bit more complicated. You have to make a new mount and such. Todd (river beast) makes a kit for this, but it gives about 7" of lift. As its designed to go with a spring over axle up front.

yeah, i've seen that. thats just to much lift for my kind of wheeling. so i'll just stick with the 6" rustys i have my eye on.

KYJ10,
How do the revolvers go on teh road? i'm just going to put them in the front. should i reconnect my sway bars for on road use with the revolvers? thanks

You won't even be able to tell that they are on there on the road!

I noticed no difference, even pulling a 14' dual axle trailor. As far as the sway bar, Id keep it connected on road. My MJ I could get away without it, but I disconected mine awhile back for some wheeling and forgot about it. Going down these country roads around here was scarry. I had to keep pulling the wheel back and forth like I was having some sort of fit! After a few days of this, I remembered I disco'ed it. Now I only disco it when heading off road! Some poeple say you wont notice, but I guess with the 6" rusty's and the body lift, it really keeps the rig stable.

Here is a picture of mine:

I got them from www.trailquest.com (http://www.trailquest.com) they were about 40-50 dollars cheaper then anywhere else.. XJ rears for early 90's but you will need some washers of some sort to fill the gap, well at least I did...

Also Bchesley makes some good products but he also makes a shackle inversion that only gives you about 3 inches. He doesn't sell it but if you talk to him about it he might make you one. I know his rig just got messed up pretty bad in a On road accident so I don't know how much time he has but with these one you have to completely remove you factory ones and weld these one one so takes some welding skills..

Hope some of this helps..

*EDIT* just made the picture work...

Robber80 I see that you are from Montpelier VT. I am also a Vermonter, I live in the greater Burlington area, always cool to notice that people are close by. Sounds like you have quite a nice Cherokee.

I don't mind rusty's 6" but it's alittle stiff for me. I think I'm going to go with a soa hear in alittle bit.

TC,
Yeah i just don't want to that much mofication yet, I'd also think that with the revolvers it should flex enough for me. mine already flexs pretty well with the super lift.

Olin18,
Do you wheel your waggy? it is cool to have people close buy. what are your plans with the wag?

Must be a different version of Superlift than the one I have...my SL 4" is stiffer than a group of 18 year olds watching VIP...

It is only now starting to get the slightest bit of flex to it after 5 years! And it is so stiff that I have been running w/out swaybars for 5 years and she corners like a racecar.
IMHO, Superlift is a joke. :( redface.gif

the only one I have heard of before is Bchesley but I have never seen pictures.. it still lifts about 3 inches too though..

The only problem with brads idea is he doesn't move the front mount down just the rear. This causes the axle to be moved forward.
