MOUNT IT CLOSE TO THE TANK AND KEEP YOUR STOCK PUMP TOO!!! OR BLOCK IT OFF!!! AND WIRE IT ONE OF TWO WAYS TURN THE KEY ON OR HAVE A SWITCH TO TURN IT ON.....ME........ I LIKE THE SWITCH JUST FLIP IT ON!!! smile.gif YOU CAN GO WITH AN IN LINE FILTER TOOOOO

thanks dude!! also, do I need a regulator? and I heard somthing about a cut-off switch on the oil pressure sender. I checked the archives, and found a post suggesting a switch from a 77 vega, I looked at it and it looks the same as the one I have on my jeep now. does the PSI matter, if so, what do you use?

You can prolly run it w/o a regulator(I have) but it wouldn't hurt. And as Gary said mount it low and as close to the tank as possible. Elect pumps are pusher pumps where as the stock diagphram pumps suck the fuel. Don't mess with the little $25 generic gold box style pumps from the chain stores, spend the money and get a real one and istall a "good" filter before it.

There are a few options for safety when installing your pump. The oil pressure switch is okay, but Ford used a switch that is activated upon impact, so if you hit something or are hit, or roll over, the fuel pump shuts off. The one I have is from a Taurus I think, simple 2-wire configuration, the Ford parts guy had several choices, was real helpful.

Be sure to install a fuse in the 12v wire. Some pumps don't come with this, but you need it. Any auto parts store has fuse holders you can wire in-line for $3. Your pump is probably in the area of 10 amps.
