Fellas...I need help

Guys, please help. How in sam hill do I pull out the dash on my 79 J-10?

I've found another dash, however that will need to be pulled out as well. Thought it would be helpful if I knew what I was doing.

Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated.

The whole dash, or the dash pad? I'm not sure how easily if at all the whole dash would come out. To do the dash pad you'll need to remove the windshield.

There's folks on this forum that have done it w/o removing the windshield but...generally you need to pull the glass out to get the dash pad off. I alas am not graceful enough to get away with it w/o trashing the dash. :(

There's about 12 or so square bolts you have to get to. The number may be more...not sure. You have to remove the A/C as well. Then you have to become a contorsionist to get to all of 'em. They run the front top edge and the lower edge.

I just pulled the dash and pad on my parts Cherokee a few weeks ago. There is a series of about 8-12 nuts up under the dash that hold the pad in place along with 4-6 along the sides. The kicker is the 6-8 torqs bolts under the window. It has to come out to get everything out intact. You have to unlock the rubber seal and pop the window out to get to those stupid bolts. It was a chore to geet out and I had the luxery of not having to put it back together.

I'm hoping to get the dashpad out without yanking the windshield. Current dash is shot. It's the new one I'll be worried about damaging.

Lucky me, had to get a J-10 with a/c........

Why did I buy this again? (giggle)
