View Full Version : There's a turbo-typewriter under the hood?

At least it sounds like it.
Going up hills on the freeway and accelerating at freeway speeds results in a very fast typewriter sound. This is on the '78 wagoneer (360/TH400/QT).
It's not a pleasant noise.
Any ideas?

sounds like either you are losing oil volume and hearing your lifters or you may have a pre dentonation problem if it sounds like some body has some rocks in a can and are shaking them you may need to change the fuel you are using

I've got good oil pressure on start-up, but then it drops to near zero when the engine gets warm. But I don't really trust the gauge.
Hmm, probably lifters...

sounds like of course it is kind of hard to trouble shoot from this distance if you wanted to bring it by I could listen and give you abetter answer LOL
