I was browsing ebay last night and came across a listing for an M724 contact maintenance truck. This is the first one ive ever seen or heard of. Admittedly i dont know squat about military vehicles, but i thought there was only an M715 and an M725. But it is the Kiaser J style truck cab. is this legit, or did someone just but a contact maintenance bed on a 715? The hard top on the cab doesnt quite look right for a 715 though. Anyone got any takes on this thing?
Sorry i dont know how to link he page, but just go to the Military Vehicles section of ebay motors and it should still be there. The item number is: 180093047033

That is a Kaiser/Jeep product same as the 715/725 with a different bed.

M724s were the Cab and Chassis versions of the M715 I think.
The hard top on that one kinda looks like somebody chopped the top off a regular J-Truck and made a hardtop.

we have some M7XX info over here:

Notice the M726 picture with different style flares.
Don't see too many of the M724s around.

cool. I was just wondering, beacuse a few years back i remember someone trying to sell an M735 on here and people were saying there was never one made. Just the 715 and 725.
Regardless, i would love to have it, but i dont have that kind of money right now.

Nice tech writeup. You might want to mention that the motor is a "military" version and only a few civilian things swap over.
Back on-topic.... That is a very high for a truck with NO BRAKES, cracked winshield, unknown motor condition and other issues.

A M724 is only the cab and chassis. These were produced by Kaiser Jeep and then shipped out to another manufacturer who then added the maintenance body. Once completed it was officially know as an 6217 maintenance truck. Because most m724's were made into 6217 maintenance trucks, its a popular misconception to call the vehicle an m724 maintenance truck. Also a lot of m715's were later retrofitted with the maintenance bodies in the mid 70's to convert them into 6217's.

Actually that is not a picture of a m726 telephone maintenance truck on your page. It's a pic of a modified m715. A m726 telephone maintenance truck looks very similar to the 6217 maintenance truck except that the rear body sides are not has tall and it has racks on it. The bed sides only come up about mid way up the cab top. Let me see if I can dig up a few pics of one.
Got this pic and the one in the next posting from Miltrucks web site. This was for sale . not sure if it still is or not but it was/is a very nice M726.http://miltrucks.com/assets/images/db_images/db_M726-21.jpg
Here is another shot of this beautiful rig... http://miltrucks.com/assets/images/db_images/db_M726-11.jpg

Yep those are some good pics of a m726. Notice the difference in the beds between the m726 and a 6217. Also note that the cab and chassis are the same for all 3 types, m715 cargo, m726 telephone maint., and a 6217 contract maint.

Interesting. I was not aware of the 6217 designation. That 726 is nice! I guess I have more updates to make. Thanks!

There is what looks to be a 724 or 6217 (Has the utility box, but the cab roof looks a little different)
