What needs to be done to get these two togther? Also, what would be my transfer case choices? I'm really not knowledgeable about Ford transmissions so any help would be appreciated. BTW 79 T18, 79 360, going in my 715.
Thanks

I would be concerned about the front axle driveshaft drop. Ford T-Cases are Drivers Drop, I assume your 715 is Pass drop, or have you swapped the front axle? Transmission to the 360 should be no issue at all.

He could run a 2WD Ford T18 and keep the stock transfer case divorced like it is now.

That would be the simplest ;)

Also, what about tcase choices. Anything that would bolt in and have the right drop and pot up with me abusing it?

Nothing that I know of...............Mixin Ford with GM stuff is a chore at best. Might have to have advance help out. I think it would be cheaper to go with a different Transmission.

I have a ford t-18 with a dana 20 on the end of it in my 77. I don't know the combination of how it works but if yall will tell me what to look for I can find out.

Are you sure you don't have a Jeep version of the T18?

My bad, your right. I heard that if it said 13-01 on the side that it ment it was a ford t-18, but this site said it's on Jeep tranny too http://www.jeeptech.com/trans/t18.html .

I have a Ford T-18 bolted up to a 258 and D300 (pass drop) in my CJ. Needed an adapter for the tcase. What tcase do you want to run?

If you want to run a Dana 300, you can get a 31 spline input for it from Advanced Adapters for about $200. [part # 52-2910] The Ford adapter is roughly the same length as the Jeep bellhousing/transmission extension housing, meaning that the transfer case will wind up near the same spot as a Jeep T18/Dana 20. I've measured my -18/20 combo vs. the Ford T-19/Dana 300 I have. They are within 1/2" of each other. The Ford adapter uses the NP round mounting surface, as does the Dana 300. The only issues I can see are 1: the Ford T-18 shifter will move forward roughly 8 inches. You would have to bend it to clear the dash. 2: The Ford transmission mount is forward of the Jeep -18/20 setup. You would probably have to modify the crossmember to accommodate this. 3: You might have to use a clocking ring with the -300.

You would have to use a Ford clutch disc and a special pilot bushing which is availble from Novak or Advanced Adapters.

I plan this swap in the future to get rid of the Jeep -18. I'm real tired of the sloppy shifter and reverse in the wrong place.

Thanks guys, after reading all this, I think I'm going to stick to the original plan of a SM465/NP205. I'm picking up my axles in a week or two. D60/14 bolt. Seems to be the combo to run. This truck is getting 42's so I need bombproof stuff. At the same time, I want to keep it at least Jeep powered, and not have to fab a bunch of one off parts. I expect something to break sooner or later, so parts have to be readily available. I know I'm gonna pay for the 360/465 adapter, but I think it's worth it, unless a fairly cheap injected chevy motor comes along.
Thanks again.

Pretty simple to use a SM465 with an AMC.
