As long as you can unlock the hubs for street use you won't have steering issues, and on the trail there is enough slip & give in dirt you shouldn't have any issues. I know someone who has the poor man lockers front & rear on his Scout II and hasn't had issues. I've been contemplating doing it to my rig. I'm also interested in feedback from others who have done it or why they didn't?

I welded my front D44 with 34" tires, and the steering radius was greatly affected when the hubs were locked. Unlocked, it's just like normal. It seemed a little harder to turn on dirt, but not too much for me to handle. The larger the tires you're going to run, the harder the steering will be. Also, if you're a rock crawler, it's really hard to turn on rocks. Steering radius will be your major hurt, but that just means a 3 point turn will become a 5 point turn. It gets annoying on long windy days. Other than all that, it's not too bad. It gives you a heck of a lot more traction for wheeling. The traction benefit outweighed my preferences, so I did it, and after 2 runs, I loved the difference. But then it was time to swap in my 1 ton stuff, so my experience isn't long term.

I welded both ends of mine with 35's and love it.As stated it cuts down some on tight turning but adds some much more traction that I thought it was worth it.If for some reason you are in a place that you really have to turn tight you can always unlock 1 hub.For the most part I dont find this to be much of an issue.Once it is offroad the traction is great and I never have to wonder will the locker hold?
