PRETTY MUCH THOUGHT I HAD THE 82 WAGONEER MOSTLY DONE.THEN BOOM,GOT A 1"HOLE IN THE Y PIPE.
WENT TO THE LOCAL MIDAS GUY,AND HE SAYS:
1)DEALER ONLY ITEM.
2)THERE IS NO LISTING FOR A 360 4SPEED,82 WAGONEER Y-PIPE AT THE DEALER ANYWAY.
DROVE TO LOCAL AUTO PARTS AND GOT SOME
"TIGER TAPE" EXHAUST SEAL.
STUFF WORKS GREAT!!!!
ANYHOW I KNOW IT WONT LAST TOO LONG,
SO ANYBODY HAVE A SOURCE FOR AFTERMARKET Y-PIPES FOR 82 WAGONEER 360 4SPEED???

Can I assume this is the exhaust crossover pipe? Or a "Y" to run 2 into 1? Several of the header mfg. catalog "Y" pipes for header set-ups to run 2 into 1. Or just find a different muffler shop. Should be able to bend up whatever you need.

PepBoys was able to get one a few years ago. Asked them for an 86 GW 5.9, only prob was that they wanted about $75, so I made do, cut the old pipe with a sawzall, and clamped a straight connector in there. Wouldn't work too well on the curved sections though. ;)

Walker lists the pipes for the driver-side drop transfer-case applications; I bought a new one a couple years back over the counter for my '88. Given how large the auto tranny is, I don't see why the 4-spd bellhousing would require a different Y-pipe. At least check with a competent auto-pats store.

Maybe check for a v8 CJ-7 application with the D300 xfer case. I think they were driver side drop also. Just a thought ;)

if you can find a good muffler shop, most will put the pipes where you want them!
i had a guy do mine and he came back to the cross member and over to the main pipe, better for t4oo application!!! without sacrificing ground clearance ;)
so go talk shop with a muffler guy and see what happens :D

I just replaced mine 2 months ago. fixed the 1 inch hole in mine with a soup can, some muffler tape (cast like materia) and some stainless steal wire. two weeks later it blew a 3 inch hole just outside the repair. local shop said 150 bones to bend one up and dvance Auto Parts wanted 80 bones for a walker brand replacement. I would check both shops and parts stores and see where the best deal is. But any descent muffler shop should be able to bend one up for ya, like everyone else has alreaky said.
If you do get one fabbed, and you can afford it, get stainless.

I had the Y-Pipe (and everything else in the exhaust system except for the manifolds)on my '79 Wagoneer replaced about a month ago at Midas. The total price was around $575.00. They said that the Y-Pipe was a discontinued obsolete part, but that they just happened to have one in the warehouse (They could have been BS'ing me.)

It may be obsolete at Midas; I don't see anyone listing any Arvin numbers for that part either. http://www.partsamerica.com lists both the Walker numbers for those parts and a Maremount number, and at http://www.actionautoparts.com (a place local to me), they come up with the same Walker numbers, but different Maremount numbers:
Walker part #'s:
#44571- Right side front pipe ($54.99)
#43630- Left side front pipe ($27.99)
together they make the "Y"
If you want to put together a full Walker system, you only need to add the following:
#45651- tailpipe ($56 at Action)
#21847- muffler ($85 at Action)
Any Walker dealer should be able to get those part numbers for you, though. They don't distinguish 4spd from auto applications, but this would definitely be for the '73-'79 AMC V-8 setups without converters.
I do see, however, that their part number for the '80 and up V-8 setup (Walker #40407) is listed for the auto tranny application only. I wonder if someone with the parts books for these years could look it up and see what the difference is in the factory pipes. The auto setup might be able to be modified to work; perhaps there's some intereference with the clutch linkage in that area.
