I have to rebuild my 360. I have aquired a running 360 to tide me over. Therefore I have a little more time to build the motor coming out.
What cam have any of you had good success with?
Summit, edelbrock, crane, Comp? Do any stand out.
I want to end up with about 300-350 HP.
Thanks

300 HP is doable, but torque is what you need to be concerned with. Unless you want to build a stoplight to stoplight racer. If you use your truck to tow, 4 wheel or the like, then build for low RPM's and lots of torque.
Having said that, the Summit cam will do that for you, and having driven a GW with one, it's a difference you can feel from idle to as fast as I cared to go. I'll be installing one in my 79 Chero in the very near future. Get the kit with the lifters, and replace rocker arms/push rods if necessary. Check your valve springs for pressure/wear, and if they need it, replace those too. Also, install a new timing set would be a good thing.

I like the Crower Baja Beast Cams. Nice performance and great low end torque. Check them out at: www.crower.com. (http://www.crower.com.)

How do I decide if the rockers/rods need replacing? Am I looking for damage or what?
I will replace the timing gears and chain, rebuild the oil pump. Anything else that is hard to get to that I should replace?

For the push rods look for excessive wear and if any are bent, lay them on a flat serface and roll them to see. As for the rockers same goes look for excessive wear or uneven wear. Springs are alittle harder, if you have a Haynes manual it should explain how to do that. Mainly you are looking for bent, or to soft of spring.
