Camp Jeep 2007 is being held July 26-28 in the Blue Ridge Mountains at Oak Ridge Estate, Virginia, just outside of Charlottesville. Please note, this event is only open to current Jeep owners. (That would be us here!:) )
I have a neighbor that is some kind of Area Rep for Jeep Corp. He asked me about my Jeep and how it was coming. He told me they have some kind of Jeep Corral that displays old Jeeps. He asked if I might be interested in showing mine. I sent him some links showing my progress and he was surprised it has moved this far along. Has anyone been to a Camp Jeep? I have been to a Jeep Jamboree with my baby Jeep and it was a lot of fun. I have heard that Camp Jeep is more about family events and displays as well as some trail riding etc... What do you think? I bet they would love to have Franks Red Tonka Truck. It might be a good way to make me finish mine in a timely manor!!!

I live in Culpeper, Va which is about 45min from Charlotesville. I can't wait. I am really looking forward to it. Since I have moved here from Asheville NC, I haven't seen many FSJ.

I just got done talking to jeep.com camp jeep representative and I was wondering. Does $295 and $245 for early bird registration sound to much? The bad thing is you can't even camp there!!!! Thats just to bring your jeep in and do some rides. Am I being to much of a tight wade or are we pretty much paying for the fellowship of fellow jeepers.

They do provide one meal on the last day. I forgot.

Well, I am a tight wad so that sounds high to me, especially considering the cost of ECI

That sounds like one of those trips that will have to go on the "When I Win The Powerball" list......

When it was going to be in Pennslyvania I thought about going but given the price and the fact that it didn't even cover camping I decided against it. Then I joined up with MAFSJA, had a blast, and paid a fraction.
I'd skip it.
Crapola. The first year I tried to go to Camp Jeep was the first year ever they decidied not to hold it at Camp Hale, just outside of Vail, CO (which at the time was only about 2 hrs from where I lived).
Now they are having it out here in Virginia, about two hours from where I live, but my **** Jeep is still out in Colorado. :grumble:
I have always wanted to go to one of these things simply so that I could show up all the shiny new Jeeps.
p.s. When it was in CO, you could camp FREE anywhere you wanted in the beautiful White River national forest and when you got tired of laughing at all the new Jeeps, you could drive 10 minutes and hit some real 'wheeling.

When I went we had a crew of 5 so we split the cost, had to rent a hotel too...
I like Dome's idea, showin up the newer Jeeps:thumbsup: I wonder if they'll have a Compass trail:confused:

I'll be going as a guide most likely this year. Everytime I was supposed to work it..I ended up selling a jeep and getting a land rover :D
You can fit a FSJ on all of the trails...a bit tight on finley ridge.....but some fun trails and obstacles (and i've done them all too many times too count)
If you are going to wheel..i'd do jamboree...but camp jeep is a fun trail ride and events kinda thing...very family geared and tons of stuff to see.
The oakridge estate is fun...so i'd highly recommend it if you can fork up the $$$....it'd be nice to not be the only FSJ there :)

I have been to four Camp Jeeps and will be going again this year! I was a trail guide two years ago when it was in PA and I wigged quite a few people out guiding with a FSJ! The Virginia Camp Jeep is great. The trails are nice and they have them for all abilities. The price gets you on the trail rides, into Camp Jeep Village, Sat. concert and such. The village is worth the price of admission. They have activites for the kids, the wife and all kinds of stuff from cooking classes to scuba diving to paint ball. It is AWESOME! Just remember that it is a HUGE marketing gimick by Diamler-Chrysler but it is still a GREAT time. My wife and kids LOVE it and it is truly a GREAT family vacation!:drivin:

The Jeep Rep told me that they lowered the price and the admission is per Jeep, not the number of people. I will try and see if I can find it on the Web.

The price of admission is PER JEEP, NOT per person. You can have as many people in your jeep as you have SEAT BELTS. My Wag has 6 seat belts, so I can take six people for the 245.00

Umm, maybe I can talk my wife into going. I did not realize Oakridge was a hotel. THe website does not mention it (or I skimmed past?)
Wont be able to make the call until it is closer. The price is a bit high for the 2 of us and the GW (or YJ). If the mutts could go and run around it might be worth it..

I'm with Earl... I've been to 2 camp Jeeps (the one in PA 2 years ago and in WI last year). I've already made my reservations for this year. The displays are great, there are vendors showing their products (NOT selling them there), roundtables, trail rides every day. I feel it is DEFINATELY worth the money. And like Earl said, it's the price per Jeep... not per person.

Oakridge is a family estate....so no hotel...but there is a small hotel up the road. I know camp jeep typically pays the trail guides for gas and lodging...so chance are...it's full.
The camping is plentiful though...and lynchburg and hotels are about 30 minutes south.
If you are going...pay close attention to the saftey things needed...like tow hooks front and rear etc...they do check. They used to have a tire size limitations years ago...but it is much more lax now (I.e....not 44s and rear steer)

I'll make sure and tag along on a ride with you as well so I can introduce myself...just look for any rivercity stuff and you'll see the honcho.

I signed up to be a guide this year as well, I was a guide in PA two years ago. Unfortunatley, I did not get picked this year, I guess I did not know the right people and my experience and trail rig didn't count for anything. Oh well, I am going anyway.

The price is per VEHICLE, NOT per person. You can take as many people as you haev seatbelts. My two girls, 7 and 10 run around like nuts and love it! There is SO much to do it is amazing!

Yep, I understaood that, but that are just the 2 of us..no one else to cram into the vehicle except the dogs..
Unfortunately, Uncle Sam has other plans for me now, so I wont be able to make it.

I'm not sure if I'll make it now or not. Apparently atlas and stak are both about 6 weeks out on filling orders....so it'll be close for me.

This will be my third year and I wouldn't miss it. In fact, my family is going with 3 out of our 4 Jeeps... my 2 sons are also taking their Jeeps. It's great fun for all of us and a lot to see and learn there.

My kids and I are going. We've been to all but one of the previous Virginia Camp Jeeps, plus to the one in the Poconos. This will be the first time in the Wagoneer, though. This is absolutely a great deal if you are into the activities and events. The trail rides are good and you get to see a lot of rigs and meet a lot of people. It is always an excuse for me to do some mods - this time new springs and a mild lift. It would be cool to have a FSJ gathering.
Cheers,

Are you the CJ tat rolled off the side of the ledge? I have been hearing about it for years but was never sure who rolled there???
Looks like I will not make it to CJ. My atlas and driveshafts are about 4 weeks from being here...and I have to finish all of the trail guide magnets and signs....so I'll be there...but it'll be for work...not wheeling:mad:

I am not sure if me and my CJ was the story of legend, but it wasn't that dramatic.I got stood up on the rear, came down across a huge boulder, the tierod gave way and ended up over the front dif.We tried running a winch cable under the rear, looped around the front trying to get the tie rod back straight.Eventually, a guy in camp had a spare.

i tried to talk the wifie into it... using woodrow as a tow vechicle to bring my 93 yj on 35's... but since i'm in canada... gas is 1.10 a litre which is like $4.50 canadian a gallon... plus having a 1 year old and one on the way... she said "maybe not"
woud love to go and will some day... so i guess if you can go... do it!!! whats the worst that can happen???? tons of jeeps, trails, and fellow jeepers.... sounds like a great time.....do you think they will have it with in a 5-6 hourdrive near the canadaian border ever?????

For those of you guys going to Camp Jeep - where are you staying? I'm thinking about trying to get a campsite at Otter Creek on the Blue Ridge (no reservations accepted), but we have a hotel reservation as a back up.
We're travelling up from Blacksburg since my brother there has the lift that I'll be using to install new springs, shocks, etc. My whole vacation is four days of wrenching then three days at Camp Jeep. It's a sickness.
I took a stock ZJ up CJ5 hill once (99, 00?). It was my initiation to what a Jeep could (or almost could) do. I tell people all the time that they have no idea what their Jeeps can do.
BTW, yet another reason I'm glad I graduated to the FSJ from any other Jeep I've run: we're taking my brother and his kids one day - a nice advantage FSJ's have: you can register six people for the one price. Can't do that in a little jeep.
Cheers,
Redwood

My family and I always stay in a hotel with a pool. The last few years were HOT and that gives us a chance to cool down, hang out, shower and sleep in the AC! We are staying at the Inn at Afton. Unfortunalty this year we are taking my wife's stock 2005 TJ. She says that she is afraid that my 89 GW won't make it down and back, or I would try something "stupid" on the trail and the fact that I hget about 8 miles to a gallon is another factor. Oh, well!
