89 GW wiper goes crazy

Vehicle shut down when fusible link to ignition circuit melted. Was able to restart by twisting end of wires together.Windshield wiper started on it own and switch had no control. Guessing a short in this circuit caused the problem. Finally was able to shut off wipers by pulling the chime module attached to the fuse box, circuit breaker had no effect. Haynes indicates only reason for this action is malfunction of limiter in wiper motor. Has anyone had this experience, need all the help I can get.

i'm not too impressed with chrycos windshield wiper motr, are the wiper arms parking where they normally should under the wind shield? the chintzy bellcrank loosened up on my 88 when my beloved shut key off be4 shutting off the wipers and then the wipers froze to glass. :eek: i swapped in a wiper motor from my 84. i hadda splice the connectors, but i havent had a problem since
