th400 to a np205

I just bought a 76 401 super chief it has a th400 with a quadratrac or something. what do I need to get to convert it to a 205.
qestions? do I just get a chevy 400 to 205 adapter, and is the spline count the same. do I need a chevy tail peice?
also it looks like the rear is not centered. d60 upgrade?

You need a GM TH400 to NP205 adaptor. You will also need to replace the tailshaft in your Transmission, you would need a 32 spline tailshaft the correct length for the 205 you get, there are 2 styles of TH400 205's 84 and down and 85 and up, each require a Different adaptor and TH400 output shaft. Dana 60 upgrade is not a bad idea ever..........however it is not mandatory, you can run the driveshaft at an angle with no problem
