Thanks, Krista! :D

I kept trying to find reasons not to get it but...

It's got some issues for sure. Like some rock rash under the passenger side rocker and behind the rear wheel, and the shift linkages are out of whack...stuff like that...but the price was right and that motor is clean clean clean.

Sweet! Looks like the HEI came from a 70's Buick, does it have a 4bbl intake or just a carb adapter?

I dunno yet. I'm guessing it's an adapter 'cause the manifold looks original.

I found the owner's manual...not sure if it's original or if the guy found one on eBay, but it's clean, not yellowed or dogeared. The odometer says 80something K. Could be 180, but looking underneath I'm not sure about that even. It's real clean downunda.

Inner fenders are solid, flares have no rust...a little bondo'd where there where some dents. The gate is straight and the box has no rust inside or underneath (I swept out all the dirt and rotting leaves), but the back of it from taillights down has been hammered at on both sides. Not sure what that was about. Maybe someone tried their hand at body work 'cause it looks like one side has been patched. It has one of those chrome step bumpers from a 70's J truck too which is cool.

And so far, it hasn't sprung a leak in the tranny or engine. The trans was down 3 quarts though when I went to look at it, so I'm'a watchin that fer sher. The U joints have no slop. Brakes are good. A power boost was added to it somewhere in its life.

The linkages are a bit out of whack, so the transfer case and transmission line will need some attention, but it drives solid (down the street and back) with no alignment pull or brake pull. I checked the front four plugs and cylinders for compression...it was running so rich I had to turn the distributor more than a 1/8 turn just to get it to behave  Front four cylinders were over 130 pounds. Why just the front four, Steve? 'Cause the *&&$(($&& back four are a pain :grumble: and I didn't feel like making it an all day project in this poor guy's driveway

I think it could also use maybe a dash harness 'cause it's a freakin mess under there but I could get away with just taping the wires too 'cause they aren't cruddy...just all over the place. The radio is gone and so's the glove box  but that for sure wasn't a deal breaker :)

All in all, it's in good shape...much better than I'd ever expect a 40+ year old truck to be in. It's definitely a "good from far" truck though...that's pretty much a rattle can quality paint job LOL...but a GOOD way to start off the Year of the Pig! Gong Xi Fa Cai!

That's the truck, Justin. It turned into a mini WOT in Ryan's driveway as we were both working on getting it running the way it should. My daughter quickly named it "Katy" and kept saying so can we get her? as I was trying to keep my game face on. LOL

Nice score - that is a solid truck. I went and looked at another one myself today. I just can't stop myself....but it was too far gone to consider. Let me know what you need for it as I hit the yards pretty regularly. And if you have an extra rhino, I might know where you can get rid of it

LOL...I 've been waiting a long time for them to throw me out. Not sure if it's much warmer over there, but it's a lot closer to FSJ country:thumbsup:

It was in and now its out again. I just finished moving into our new house today and needed the extra bed space. Now I'm trying to plan my restification of the Honcho and am not sure how that will work out. I'm thinking I want to get a truck tent for camping but it won't work well with the rollbar. Not sure what I'm going to do yet.... </hijack>

Given that tied off heater hose, I'm pretty sure I'll be in the market for a heater core if you happen to run into one.

Couple more pics...interior and underneath from the back forward. Like I said, it's hard to imagine that the mileage is 80,000 but it sure doesn't look like it's seen a lot of miles from the interior and the bottom.

Jason, my son's already talking about lifting it "like Brutus" Your truck is famous 'round here, dude. :D

EDIT: What tranny and t-case?
It was advertised as a TH400/D300 but based on the #'s Ryan gave me it is TH400/D20. I'm a little curious myself as to what exactly is in that thing as the seller was not at all sure about it. Steve?
