I am just curious what the difference between a 83 wagoneer limited and a grand wagoneer is? I guess I am mainly interested in knowing if the seats would interchange. I am going to be searching for new seats for the limited and was not sure if I could get a set from a GW or not.

Thanks,

Mike

Assuming you have power bucket seats they should swap right in as they remained the same up until the untimely demise of the FSJ in '91.

As far as differences between an 83 Wag Ltd. and the 84/85 GW's there really isn't much of a difference that I can think of besides the vacuum disco axle and the badge. Now that I think about it a bit more the only reason the name was changed from Wagoneer LTD to Grand Wagoneer was due to the introduction of the XJ Cherokee style Wagoneers, they have to distinguish between the two somehow.

Seat mounts are the same, from 80 on up. The only difference being if the vehicle had power seats.

So the 83 will have the vacuum disc axle or is that the 84/85. I am picking her up on Sunday, Can't wait to start working on her. I got the jeep for $350 rust free with a bad 360 in it. Found a running 360 for another $300. Only thing I really have to deal with is the seats, they are power seats but the leather or pleather whatever it is is shot on the seats.

The vacuum disconnect isn't really a big deal but you have to come to a complete stop while shifting to 4WD. 2 ways to tell if you've got it, 1st of which being a mushroom looking object coming out from the differential and the 2nd being if the 4WD switch has a pin that makes you use 2 hands or the word stop on it. 83/84's should have the vacuum disconnect axle and some early 85's I've seen have it along with some odd-ball latter year ones.

If you don't like pulling the pin and stopping and all that, put it in 4-hi and leave it there. No more shifting.

GWs had the Cherokee tailights. LTDs had the Wagoneer tailights. Other than that, they're basicly the same. Just normal year to year changes.
