I have a '67 gladiator and installed a early 80's gas tank off a Caprice. The sending unit is original to the tank and when connected to my jeep's fuel gauge the gauge reads empty when the tank is full and 1/2 full when it's empty? Is this a problem with the type of sending unit not being compatable or a gauge problem?

Sending unit not compatable with the guage. Easiest way out is to go to the local mcparts house and get an aftermarket guage for the GM unit and hang it under the dash.

You could try this. Take the sender from the Gladiator cut the pickup tube and the wire from the sender. Do the same on the Caprice sender. Put the pickup tube and the sender on the from the Gladiator on the cap from the Caprice with rubber tubing and spice the wire. Shape the pickup tube and the float to match the Caprice so it reaches to the bottom and the float has a full range of travel to the bottom and top of the tank. I have not tried this I possed the question to the shop, but theoretically it should work. What you did is use the sender from the Gladiator that matches the values of the guage. It wouldn't hurt to have an extra sender from the junkyard for the Caprice tank just in case.
