91 grand wagoneer

I am looking at a 91 Grand wagoneer that has 360 automatic. can any one tell me about these ex. what drive train is under it from tranny to axles.. the bootm line is the kid that is selling had just put a new distributer in it when he was driving it down the free way it just shut down. He thinks the distributer he got was bad remanufacture. but he only wants $800 obo give Give me you advice guys the waggy has 108,000 miles on it

Jeeprunner, are you the blue J-10 I see running around Hill AFB?

Snag that thing up, it'll have D44 front and rears and an NP229 Selec-Trac transfer case, but who cares. If it's not rotten grab it. Hell, if it is gotten grab it!

If you are the truck that's on Hill I have a ton of stuff in base housing and have a 360 dizzy that you can borrow if you want to try to start it up.

If it's rust-free you could flip that for $1200 before you even get it home. $800 for a low miles '91 is a steal.

I agree. Even if you PAY a mechanic to repair it, you're still $$$ ahead, provided everything else is nice (paint, straight body, no rusted out frame rail, good interior).

I looked at the wagoneer today the body is alright for kn0ow but it is starting to get those nasty cancer spots on it. I checked al the fluids and the tranny smelled a little burnt and oil reeked of gasoline. the distrubter is brand new it doesn't even looked lik it was used for more then a couple of days. in fact I believe the thing hasn't run with the new distributer. I think it threw its timming chain. so This is were you guys com in do these have the nylon timing gear from the factory. and if it did jump is it posible that one of the valves could have punch ed through one of the pistons or what ussualy breaks when these go. do the push rods bend or break like chevy. give me you inputs I probably wont keep the wagoneer but would love the engine and drive train in my J-10 and then just junk the rest or part it out.

Are you kidding me? I know who your wife is now that you put it all together. If she met me at Vic's place I was more than likely drunk and/or working on something in his garage. I can't believe our wives know each other and we both have FSJs and I never met you. That's just stupid.

Tell your wife to talk to Nikki, she'll twist her arm for you. What you want to know about my 360? Oh, and if you do borrow my dizzy be sure to look at the one that's in your potential Wag now. If the gears are chewed up don't put mine in there. :thumbsup:

Hopefully the dassy smell just means the feul pump took a crap and you can have it running in ten minutes
