Hi all.
I tried to search but cant find what I need.
My steering box wont turn left more then halfway when under load.
Right works fine.
No binding in linkage we just put in a highsteer setup and centered every thing.
the box will turn freely when disconnected from drag link.
And hubs rotate full lock to lock, But when it sits on the ground all hooked up it fights left and wont rotate more than halfway???
PS.We just bought the truck and it probably was like this, as we towed it home.
So I dont think we caused it just finished up the high steer conversion then discovered this new issue.

Only thing I can think of is the drag link hitting the Pass Spring. Though I would think it would be obvious. MYSTERY! ;)

I've had the same happen with a 79 chebby and it was the steering box but it took a while for me to convince myself the box was at fault.
Good Luck

Did you take the pitman arm off while doing the conversion?
I don't know about those boxes, but some of them will turn manually all the way around... But their hydraulic assist in them is cut out by relief valves... So if you put the pitman arm on 90* out it will turn only one way unless there's no load on it or you REALLY crank on the steering wheel.
Where's the drag link attach to the tie-rod in relation to the leaf springs? My waggy wouldn't turn right (that's to the right) because the tie-rod was hitting the leaf spring on the way over. That was a fun thing to fix... If your drag link attaches on the far side of the passenger side spring it could be this.

Its the drag link:(
In the light of day i can see it.
Tried flattening the bottom but it wont work to much to take off.
It has the high steer conversion and over axle springs they are stock springs ,and the links are right on top of spring:eek:
Any suggestions?

What high steer conversion did you use? Are the springs sagging at all?

www.partsmikeparts.com (http://www.partsmikeparts.com) has a spacer to put under your highsteer arm. Should fix your problem
TAKE PICS AND POST THEM - they would be valuable for those who are looking at highsteer (to help them avoid your problem).

I will do so tommarrow.
Talked to parts mike.
My castor is only 2.5 so some 4degree shims will tilt the arms up a bit and then a 1 inch spacer under the arm should about fix it up.
thanks for the help.
