I am not a master mechanic but I'm a do it your self'r. I was just wondering what that noise is I am hearing. The noise comes from when I floor it and give it alot of gas. I can give it gas at a resonable rate of increase in speed and nothing happens. The noise is coming from the engine. I hope it isn't anything bad. What is the problem? How can I prevent it or fix it? OR just keep it from getting any worse.

a quadra-trac truck? if so i'd say the chain is slipping, are you sure it's the motor?

otherwise,could be a rod knocking.

If it "rattles" a little under hard acceleration it is the valves. The good news its that you can fix it by adjusting your timing for the gas you are running. I assume you have no vacuum leaks or other tune problems. As your your plugs wear, the effective timing advances. So that is just like advancing the timeing. Run premium, the will help, or fix it, your choice.:drivin:

Ditto what Ristow said. QT chains will slap around if they're stretched and you romp on the gas. But they won't under easy throtle.

Well, Could be alot of things. I would drain the oil and have a good look in it for bearing debris.

If it's his J-10, it's an 83 so no QT. Give us more details darlin. Metal clackity clack sound could be your lifters. No metal sound but clickin could be an exhaust manifold leak.

But yup, give us somethin more to go on.

It is more off a knocking noise. It won't do it when I am in neutral or park. It only does it when I am in drive when I give it some heavy gas.
