What is it with these things as of late:confused: It seems like almost every 'hunting truck' on Ebay must have some ridiculosly(sp) tall tube frame rack on top, be painted either OD green or some other militaryesque color and have some hideous looking bumper up front. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for doing things red-neck, just look @ my j-truck, but common do you really think you can sneak up on a deer in the woods on a 5KLB moving 12ft tall v-8 tree stand?

Did you take a good look at that front bumper? It's not setup for sneaking up on them its so that you and your buddies can set up top and enjoy a beer and watch as the driver gives pursuit of game and mows it down with that custom slaughter bumper. :fsj:

It's called a mobile deer blind! It is plain to see you'll ain't hunted deer in east TX . The driver drives slowly along the deer used to seeing the vehicle that brings feed out to them is not spooked as he rolls to a stop, the guy on top shoots! Then the guy following behind on the four wheeler rolls over to clean the deer while the driver and the "Hunter go back to the lodge for a well deserved beer and brag session. One place I saw had a "blind built on telephone poles complete with cook and waitress to feed you and get your drinks while you waited for the deer to appear at the feed station! After you shot your deer most the size of a greyhound dog, the guy in the jeep sitting below would take off and finish your deer off clean him and bring him back to the lodge for you to get your picture taken! Then the staff would finish skinning and package up your meat so that when you left all you meat was in neat butcher paper wrapped packages/

NO no no, the tripod is where you mount the lmg, preferably an M60e3 or an M240, but an M249 SAW will do, the front bumper is dual purpose; for both plowing down brush and small trees as you chase after the deer, and for holding the dead animal after killing it. If you you and your driver are working together well and you coordinate it right, you can catch up to the deer, shoot it full of lead, and scoop it up into the front bumper/cage thing before it falls, then move on to the next one. The lights on top aid in illuminating the deer for easier shooting.
See, rather than sitting in a hide or tree stand with a rifle, shotgun, or bow, you just drive to an open field early in the morning and start chasing. Deer can't run 50mph, but the Jeep can, and once you close in on one, you're sure to hit it with 200rnds of 7.62 or 5.56 ammo, and there's plenty of room for carrying many more belts of ammo.
See, this is what the truck normally looks like when properly kitted out for deer hunting, obviously it had to be stripped of it's weapons for Ebay to permit selling it.

I could never understand that sort of hunting, luxury hunting, all you do is pull the trigger. Boring. I don't even hunt but I can understand why people will go out and spend days of the year traking and following deer, finding the one you want, then come hunting season going out with a bow or rifle and spend hours and days finding the buck you want, getting in close as you can, finding the opportunity to take him and finally getting him, then carrying him out and dressing him. I have no desire to do it myself, but I understand why people do it. Sitting in a truck shooting tame deer wandering in a field while people do everything for you sounds like the dullest thing ever.

In Jersey that thing is considered a "poaching wagon".
The best line for me is "vehicle performs well under hunting conditions" whatever that means.

Yeah, they're basically for rich idiots who don't know how to hunt, and think killing a tame deer makes them more manly. The key word in hunting...is well...hunting. It means you seek out and track your prey...what the rich folks do is just killing.

That front bumper platform might come in handy while working under the hood, haha.

Funny, the first thing I thought of when I saw it was Jurrassic Park too.
$1700 and still hasn't met the reserve? That seems a bit steep to me. Interesting rig tho.

Does well under hunting conditions. So it must be great when it's shut off and parked.

that rack setup is too much work. just make your e-brake work real nice and side swipe the deer. at least that way you don't need a license. besides a setup like that is probably illegal in just about every state.

High fence Killin'... That's what it's set up for. That kind of animal "hurding" is what gives hard working Joe's that live for the out of doors a bad name. Give me open country with no fences and where the closest you can get to the game depends on your wits, not your pocket.

Yup, I saw rigs like that all over Texas. Big land, big ranches, lots of deer.

Bad mecanics have to sleep with one eye open cause someone will be trying to get even for being scamed out of money. The driving good under hunting conditions prob. means it wont drive good on the road but runs off road well. My guess anyway!
