I was wondering what you use to ship large items. I am looking for a PTO winch, and winch bumper for my J2000. If I can find them together I was wondering how to ship them if I find them out of state. Any infromation would be a big help.

Thanks,
Rankin

Go Greyhound for oversized items or ship with a freight line.

Ok I have never had to ship anything so this is all new to me, so please bear with me on this. So lets say I find a winch and winch bumper several states away on ebay. The seller says buyer is responsible for all shipping. How would I go about getting that bumper and winch to Texas? How do contact a shipping company? How do I get the bumper and winch to the shipping location if the seller won't help or if there is not a close shipping doc? What about packaging? These are the kinda questions I need help with. I know its long and stupid but any help would be great.

Thanks,
Rankin

Look up LTL Motor Freight in the Yellow pages of your local phone book, tell them what you have and weight, make sure the seller will assist in loading or best take to the truck terminal. They will then give you a rate, not cheap most of the time. ABF if they are your way is usually pretty reasonable. I would tell you to call the Co. I work for..............but we are not cheap at all.

If other thing doesn't work, you might try UPS. Someone said they've shipped trannys thru them. Their drivers need to be able to lift 150 pounds. They have something called "call tag" service where you can arrange for item to be picked up.

I have shipped many FSJ Trans and T-Cases through Fed Ex, UPS I have no use for, but supposedly they take 150 lb shipments to. Only issue with a Winch Bumper is going to be the size, I doubt it will make Fed Ex or UPS for that matter

According to their website, UPS would have been able to take both the winch and the winch bumper That I found in Ohio and would ship it to texas for like $160. They had to be split into 2 different packages for the 150lbs limit per package. And the seller had to take it to them I think, but the seller was not willing to package them up for me so I had to miss out. Thanks for the information if there is anything else just let me know.

I have in the past recruited forum Members to pick stuff up for me and bring it up when they come an VISIT me, or they store it for me till we meet up at a later date. There is an awfull lot that can be done with the helpfull members of this forum. I have been pulling a few favors of late, and it amazes me at how much help there is from members on this forum. With a little time on your side, setting up the logistics is not hard to do at all!

Yeah thanks for the information. The next time something like this happens maybe some one would be willing to pick it up for me and take it to the shipping doc or something like that if it was not too much trouble for the members in the area. Thanks again guys this has been a real big help for me.

Thanks,
