I have a 91 grand wagoneer. i dont have a lot of money to spend because im in high school:banghead: . im thinking of putting in a 3inch body lift and then some 32 kumho road venture M/T's. what are the downsides to a body vs. suspension lift

I have had one on mine for about 9 years and have had no ill effects, it makes alot of stuff easier to get at under the truck. the holes for the radiator to be relocated are already there, everything on the truck seemed ready from the factory for the body lift, I only extended the shifter linkage, but if I recall it would have worked it was just right at the edge of coming apart so I welded in a 3 inch extension... Obviously a suspension lift is better because you will gain suspension travel and ground clearance, but if you are looking for a cheap way to gain room for bigger tires without cutting, I say go for it, some people have had problems, but from what I have heard its mostly from badly rusted bodies and mine is rust free in the critical areas....

Unless you truck was like mine all of the bolts twisted into I had to cut 4 holes in the floor to remove old rusted nuts and I used large washers instead of fabbing a new peices of metal in. Then the cab failed and thats what I am repairing today. I have had body lifts on several trucks that were easy and put in in 4 hours by myself but this wag hasbeen a nightmare due to rusting of the body mounts and bolts. First time I done the lift 2 days with cutinng the cab in all. second time fixing it back the right way another day and a half.
Not wanting to scare you but becarefull and check your body bolts before you buy a body lift. make shure they come lose easy.
