Where is the tailgate window relay located? I always thought it was that silver box mounted behind the scissor action of the tailgate lift, but my mechanic said that is the defrost timer relay (he was reading this out of the electrical charts that I have). Any idea?

I wanted to get this back to the top of the heap again. Does anyone have any idea where the relay is for the tailgate window? I am working on an '91. Thanks

Buford, it should be under the dash somewhere in that mess of wires. i think.

They don't use a relay (though it would be a great idea); full power is routed directly through the switches.

There are two circuit-breakers in the fusebox protecting the circuits (one for the full-time power for the tailgate switch, and another for the ignition-switched dash switch).

Actually, on '89 and newer JGWs, there is a tailgate window relay. It's shown in the diagrams in the repair books (seperate diagram for '89 - '91), 88 and older GWs don't have relays.
