Most of you that own ff 14 bolts have the generation I type ('87 and before). I have a ff SRW Generation II type (88-up) with disc brakes. Anyway, I ran into a little problem with the hubs on mine and wondered if the Gen. I hubs have the same thing.

From the WMS outward, there is a thick tube (part of the hub) that you bolt your ff shafts to. When mounting a wheel, you rest the inner circle of the rim on this tube, align it with the wheel studs, and press the wheel on until it hits the WMS. On mine, the diameter of this tube increases twice before you get to the WMS. They're very short, and not more than 1/8" thick steps, but they were enough to not let my cut hummer centers mount flush against the WMS. I already grinded out the center hole to make mine work, so I'm not worried about it anymore, but I'm just curious if the Gen I hubs had that step up or not.

So if you own a SRW ff 14 bolt that came out of a GM prior to '87, check out the hub and cure my curiosity. I'd appreciate it. Here's a less-than-detailed pic of what I'm talking about:

I'll check...
No, just the one small step. Can't get my caliper on there but it looks to be ~4.60", definately not 4.75".

Did the 88 and up come with the discs or did you add them?

That is what I thought, but it was worth asking just incase they were factory!!

I think this issue may stem from the fact that some of the factory GM wheels are hub-centered, rather than centered by the lug studs. I think it's the aluminum OEM ones, i dont actually have one to look at.
