when i was looking under my jeep yesterday i noticed the plug on the rear diff cover was leaking pretty bad and i was thinking about buying some new covers.

there is no tags marking what axles they are
it has a lsd or locker in rear{open when turning.floor it and they both spin}

the diff cover says spicer.thats it

sorry for the dumb question but im new to the fsj scene

Does your Jeep have quadra-trac?

My '79 does, I dont think GoldHammer's '81 Chero would. His is prolly an NP208. The QuadraTrac transfer cases are mated to pass. side offset rear axles. The diff covers are the same as the regular 44's so if youd like you can buy a new plug seperatly.

My 78 Cherokee "S" has the quadra-trac and d44's front and rear.

you will have dana 44's front and rear. sounds like a d20 because you wouldn't be able to spin just the rear tires with a quadratrac, and the q-trac was only available behind automatics anyway.

where in oregon are you located?

Three speed would be a T-15, and you'll have a Dana 20 transfer case with a U-shaped shift pattern. Left/forward = 2 HI, Left/rear = 4 HI, Right/rear = Neutral, Right/forward = 4 LO (and it's a LONG reach)
