727 Torqueflight. A Chrysler tranny with an AMC bolt pattern.

One thing to keep in mind, just because you have an 89 doesn't mean that the trans wasn't built in 82. It seems that AMC sucked hind tit when it came to parts from Chrysler of Ford.

Even if it was it would still be a 727.

True; only FSJ that got the TF908 was the 6cyl/2.73-geared rigs.

Hey guys,
New to the forum as well. JUST picked up my 89 woody with 150K on it, 360, TF727, dana 44 front and rears. Was that all standard equipment? ALSO, correct me if I'm wrong, but the 727 was a pretty good trans. Also, for trivia, it and the PowerGlide are the only 2 automatics you can roll start.
Quick off-topic question; how much more life, if well maintained, can I expect out of my 360 and 727 with 150K on the clock?

89WoodWag,
The powerglide you could probably push start but our 727 equiped wagons do not have a rear pump,
so they can not be roll started. Also you forgot the fordomatic, hydramatic and powerflite, all of these
could be roll started but who cares, they're obsolete and not Wagoneers. Welcome aboard.

The old TF's had a rear pump up until about '64 or so, when they were redesigned. So unfortunately, or newer-model ones can't be bump-started. :(
It would be cool, though.

Well mine has 213,000 miles 89woodwag and he shifts fine and drives ok, alot of work to make it prestine but hes still chugging along. When his hear dies Ill rebuild most likely.
