Here is a question for the hardcore wheelers...
I know airing down helps with traction, but what if you pull a tire off the rim out in the field. say no damage, just a tire and a rim. How do you get it back on.
p.s. your spare has a hole in it. :D :D

Well, if the tire isn't too big, a ratchet-style hold-down strap around the circumfrence of the tire, to press the beads up against the rim as much as possible, and a good shot of compressed air with the valve-stem guts removed.
If it's a big'ol tire, then it's fun with starting fluid... :D

I blew one of the Dinosaur's 33's off the rim at Matagorda island. Here's what I did.
Jacked it WAAAY up.
Took the rim off.
Ratchet strapped the tire all the way around and crushed the beads into the "inner" rings of the rim.
40 minutes later with a compressor, "POP!" the Beads shot out to the "Rim beads" and the tire aired up to proper pressure.
Put the rim back on.
Drank a beer (it was 130+ on the beach sand)
All is better.

Take a little ether and spray it on the inside of the tire and then light it! Pops the tire back on the bead. Air it up and your on your way.
CAUTION: THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD ONLY BE DONE UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION!

NO JOKE!!!! HAHAHA.... but I have to laugh cuz one of my friends tried this the wrong way and caught his tire on fire. You can't "soak" the tire... all you need is the fumes (light coating) within the tire to ignite... the heat of the burning fumes rapidly expands which sets the tire bead.
just a quick explanation....
I don't know if this applies to mud tires? but on big truck tires you have to have air connected when you do the starting fluid trick or the tire will pull back of the bead as it cools off, this happens quick.
