Does anyone know where I can get a new black dashpad? Mine is severly cracked and looks terrible. Has anyone swapped in any early model all steel dash to eliminate the dashpad completely?

This forum is great. I bought my Cherokee about 2 yrs. ago from a guy that took it apart to "fix" it and then realized he was in way over his head. The next stop for "Pookey" was the crusher [the owner had already called the junk yard]. I just couldn't stand to see a vehicle with so much potential go to the scrap heap, so I trailered her home and started the re-assembly. Most interesting vehicle I have ever owned!

Anyway..enough of that. Again many thanks for this forum.

If you hand-carry your dash pad into an upholstery shop it shouldn't be much to get it recovered. I had one recovered years ago and it was about $50 and even now I would think still less than $100? Only hassle is you need to pull the windshield to get to the dash pad bolts.

Thanks again joe_.

I'll check with local shops to see if they can do the work. The windshield has to be removed anyway, since I "caught" a large rock with it a few weeks ago.

To use the early dash in a newer truck you will either have to cut the dash, change the steering column, or modify the column to fit. If you choose to change or modify the column you will also need the proper brake/clutch pedal support that goes from the I.P. to the cowl panel. If you can not get these parts from CJM then let me know.
