I would prefer the Ox lock myself followed by the ARB then Detroit. Since we'll probably be going to a 14 bolt I'll go with the Detroit simply because of price

selectable or not?

Dollar for dollar, it's hard to beat a Detroit Locker. Peace of mind and total traction. The new softlockers are pretty mild mannered now compared to the older style lockers. If moeny is not the issue, ARB for selectable, Detroit for non-selectable. But overall, no headaches with seals going bad or a cable or solenoid going bad with a Detroit. It's always there, for the good and for the bad!

I have only run a Detroit
Strong as it gets in an auto locker...select. I would go with ARB..what's with OX selling you the diff then you got to buy the cable.

The ox lock is a selectable locker that uses a cable to actuate the locker. By moving the cable you can either lock or unlock the diff...

I've run a couple different types (ARB, lockrights...) and I am running Oxes F+R right now. I really like them and would install them again.

Really, this depends on personal choice and usage. If it was mainly an off-road rig, I would go with a spool for $100, or "lincoln-locked" . This can suck in snowy, icy, or even rainy on-road driving, though.

Although the OX makes you buy a cable, doesn't the ARB require buying a compressor seperately?

I vote spool but as incommando said it can be a little scary in slick on road situations. Ive had the jeep get sideways on me in a turn on slick streets because i gave it a little too much gas and it wasnt fun.

I've got dual LSDs on the J10 (daily driver)
Quicklock(lockright clone) rear, powerlock front on the Cat.
Detroit rear, and true-track front on Nom.

Just depends what you want it for:)

I've done the Detroit, blew it up. The OX is great and 4WheelParts sells it with the cable. The cable listing is for replacements or to upgrade an ARB! Go with the OX and don't worry about it ever again! Doing it twice is NOT cheaper.

I have had the Powertrax Lockrite and was pleased with them. For a "lunch box" locker they are good. I think this time I am going with thier "No Slip" unit.

I went with Eaton E-locker; cheaper than ARB or OX but still selectable. More expensive than automatics, but.......it's selectable.

I had a Detroit Locker installed in the rear Dana 44 on my '88 GW in 2001 (DET:187SL-16C) and an Auburn Gear limited slip (AUB:5420109) installed in the front D44. Together they have been a dependable combination for all weather and surface traction. I am now installing Dana 60's and since I'm selling the farm to buy the axles I figured I might as well spend some cash on front and rear air lockers too.

IMO Lincoln lockers are assinine unless you drive on the trail only.

 Even then they are a PITA at times. Steering one can be like trying to benchpress the whole truck.

I prefer to have something that will at least unload in a corner or tight turn.
