I've started the great adventure of re-building an engine. I'm working wiht an 86 360 and have it almost stripped to a bare block for cleaning at the machine shop.
Two questions, first how do I remove the main bearings from the block and second how do I remove the cam bearings?
Never done anything like this before so any helpful hints regarding re-building (short of buying a complete engine and paying someone to install it) would be appreciated.

You can pull the mains out but let the shop pull the cam bearings, they will have to replace them when done with the block anyway. What plans do you have for the rebuild? Cam, pistons, etc? I am in the process of setting up a 401 and got a lot of help from Summit Racing and my local machine shop. J20
