what have i done now?

so i changed my oil yesterday and right after i started it it i noticed a knocking that sounds like a lifter, what could have caused this? crappy filter? ( fram by the way...yea i know, but thats all walmart had) thanks in advance

Let it run for a minute, the lifter noise will go away.

After allowing the motor to run for 30 seconds simply shut it down and check your oil level. If it's within the lines don't sweat it. When you changed the oil you momentarily starved the upper half of lubrication... just the same as allowing it to sit for any length of time. Is the lifter ticking good for the motor... no, but odds are you didn't do anything worth losing sleep over.

Spend the couple of dollars and STAY AWAY FROM FRAM if you value your jeep. Change your oil again with a quality filter. Unless of course you like a motor full of paper...
