I picked-up a np208 from Sambo this weekend (great guy, beautiful family). I'm converting my np219 QT to part-time. My questions : (1) how much longer should I have my rear d-shaft lengthened for the 208 (w/ a 4" lift)? and (2) Are Warn manual hubs any better than mile-marker? Thanks

When I had my 208 put in, I only "supervised" the shop do it as I didn't have the time and they didn't know anything about "208 swaps". However, they put in the 208 first. Then they took the measurement between the yokes and sent that along with the old driveshaft to the driveline shop. That place was able to figure everything else out with just that measurement. Although the transmission shop didn't know anything about our Jeeps, they didn't even blink. I guess there are alot of people doing transmission swaps to put in overdrive transmissions in older cars and everyone is used to messing with the driveshaft lengths. I'm assuming this is all you would have to do in your case.

I have the Warn Premium hubs($95 at the local shop). I highly recommend them. I first bought a set of Superwinch($60) hubs through Summit. First the allen heads seized in the body(steel in aluminum). Later I actually broke the internals that attach the dial to the spring/star wheel(whatever its called). The Warns still work perfect. It would be a shame to have that nice stout Tcase and break an inferior hub in the backcountry. I have no advice on the Mile Markers as I've never known anyone that has had them.
