I got a message from Dave over the weekend...

Hi Flint, about that time to check on things. I still have sites 46 and 46A and also one of the hookup sites in the circle you asked me to hold also. do you still want these 3 sites or should i let them go? Just let me know, I just don't know if everyone has called in who is planning on comeing or not. Let me know, thanks, Dave

FLATBACKDRAGON - the hookup site is for you Brother. You gonna get it? Same one as last year. OF1

Anyone that wants a tent site in the back with the rest of the FSJers better get off their arses and call Dave or you will be getting whatever they have available. Please report back here if you want 46 or 46A. So, who got site 50???

Hello everybody. My wife and I officially plan to be there from California! I tried calling to reserve a spot, probably 46A if still available, but only got the answering machine. Our Jeep is in pieces right now, but should be ready in time for the trip. I'm rebuilding the 360 with a custom-ground cam, Howell TBI, and a few other mods. I'm very excited and hope to see you all there.

It looks like we'll be pulling a small travel trailer, so I think I have reserved OF1. I'm not sure - they called and talked to my wife before I got home so she didn't know which way to go. Hopefully they will get back to us soon.

Phil & Flatbackdragon have OF1 though right?

Wayne - You must be headed for OF2 right next door.

Somebody emailed me last week about going after 46A or 50. Who was that? I have not been grounded for a few weeks and trying to get a handle on this again.

Thanks...

YES! Please do because I need to tell Dave that he can have the sites back that have not been reserved yet.

had emailed Dave about OF1 and discussed when was available and received reservation confirmation but no definate site mentioned on confirmation.
OF1 wasn't available until MKonday the 9th, we had planned to get there the 7-8th, so told him 9th was ok, SO assuming we have OF1, maybe not.
OF2 was taken by huge RV last yr and she was planning to be there again this yr while visiting her bro that lives in the area

Sounds good Phil. I will get map updated when we have confirmation on recent reservations. I really like the way we are more on the UN side of unorganized with this fine gathering of FSJers in the mountains every summer. :D Oh, and I have some personal business up at Yankee Boy basin again this year. That may happen before July though.

Ok, well, we wanted an RV space because the trip will take several days for us and we wanted to stop at some National Parks on the way and having a trailer will hopefully make it easier. So, I just sent in our reservation for space 60. It's not with the group, but it's not that far either.

Sorry, but we no longer have any sites on hold for the group. You will have to find out what sites are available from Dave at KOA. Tell him you are with the FSJ group. Most of us camp back in the Aspen area between site 45 and 50. Also mention your concern for parking a tow vehicle and trailer. We may be able to park it over by 47D if he does not have a spot for it, but I think he would be the one to ask first.

I think you need to worry about HER parents giving permission before YOUR parents giving permission. If you are old enough/responsible enough to travel in an old Jeep from South Dakota to southwest Colorado... your parent's won't mind, trust me.

Just remember, get in good with her parents, tell them in the course of conversation what your goals are and what you are doing to attain those goals and you WON'T have to worry about them anymore. But you must be prepared for the "Our daughter helped you when you broke down... what are you going to do if you break down on the way to the other end of Colorado?" speech. <hint><hint><hint>

I don't know if HOOT's figures are right on the number of women... IIRC we had 8 at the KOA. Am I right AGAVE SISTERS? So she won't be ALONE with the guys if you catch our drift.

Still waiting for pictures... :D

Now you are thinking! Don't forget to mention that you will have a jerry can full of gas at all times. That won't hurt your cause either way.

Speaking of Colorado buds... Not sure when you are coming down but if you want to caravan you are welcome to caravan with Kennyh and myself. PM me your phone number and I will give you mine just in case you have a problem within range of northern Colorado.

Got another reservation confirmed and updated on the KOA map. Site 46 is still open. Don't waste time getting reserved at the KOA if you are coming.

Still trying to figure who Shane Oliver is. If you contacted me about reserving site #50, I can not find the correspondance. Please speak up. Thanks! :o

Dave is real good about getting back to those that email him, usually within a day or two, give him a bit of time none the less. It's hectic in Florida right now with big race and all, gee whiz. May try to go to the 50th running of Daytona next year myself, that'd be cool.

I left a VM for Dave, he called back pretty quick and left me a VM, I then called him back today and finalized our reservations with a credit card.

If you are not hearing back from an email, call him, there might be something up (spam blocker thinks you are spam or something)

He seemed pretty happy to talk to me. Probably LIKES have people call and make reservations. :)

Derek and I in 56, Jerry in 57. You can put down 'WILL E' and 'STILLRUNZ' for derek and I. I don't know what Jerry's handle is.

I am getting pretty psyched about this trip. While the wheel'n isn't too challenging it is absoultly some of the most beautiful scenery I have every been in.

Should be a little better this year for me pulling Derek's trailer. Derek is bringing his truck which means I don't have to carry as much weight in my truck (derek and Dinky) and we don't have to load up his trailer with all of our extra stuff (he can put that in his truck). Since we will have water at the site we don't have to fill up the water tank either. I bet when it is all said and done I will be 1000 pounds lighter. That should really help with the wag sag....

Ralph Rogers
02-20-2007, 11:20 AM
That's good. You were saggin quite a bit last year, not to mention the strain of going over the mountains. Since Derek is driving the truck you will get more rest from stopping for gas more often too.
Ralph

jsinajeep
02-20-2007, 11:31 AM
Oh, like weight is a facture for a FSJ. LOL. You got to learn to back the Jeep and trailer up the mountain in case it die, that way you can alway roll start it on the way back down and try again.

will e
02-20-2007, 05:16 PM
Truth is, Derek might be pulling his truck, not driving it.

Plans are still being formed.

Oh well, last year I was able to pass a Hummer that was pulling a trailer uphill too. Made me feel good.
