Ok, perhaps this will get more responses here; What's the largest tire I could stuff on a w/t Chero with 15x7 rims if I hack out the fenders, and how far will I need to trim the fenders for what sizes?

I prefer to go with skinnier tires if possible, like 34x10.5s are what I'm thinking (SuperSwamper LTBs), perhaps 35x10.5 if I could find any. I'd like to not have to adjust my steering stops if it all possible, and I'll probably have BJ's lift shackles and ORD 'zero rate add a leaves' for an inch of lift. Later, much later, I'll probably go for a spring over with new axles etc. Not now, this will be my affordable wheeler with a low center of gravity.

Anyways, what sizes have you guys fit with what trimming? I'd spring for something taller or wider if it's a really good deal, junkyard has a newish set of 33x12.5 mud tires on a Chero, but they aren't very agressive, I don't see anything local so far, there were some 37" pro comps on craigslist, but they were 13.5" wide and for 17" 5 lug rims. A set of 34x10.5 LTBs or narrow 35" Swampers is my ideal though.

widetracks, can handle 33's stock if i remember right, then to go to 35's you need either a 2inch lift or fender trimming, than anything on up is a combo of both.
why do you want to hack your w/t fender flares? if you do dont, i will trade you a set of narrow tracks for your w/t fenders that way we can save another set of fender flares(save for them all rusted out)

I have seen 38's with no lift and a lot of cutting :)

I have the Swamper 34" LTB's on my GW with a W/T front axle. It's almost the same! But I cut fenders a lot on the GW. I bet you could barely trim with the 34's on your cherokee.

I'll tell you what. I'm about to get rid of my 34's and nicely backspaced rims. I'll sell them to you for cheap. But I'd have to ship them to ya...I travel quite a bit, but not outside of Tx/La. :D

Well this Chero has rusted out rear flares, they were replaced with fiberglass ones riveted on, but the sheetmetal rusted some more and they're falling off. The front fenders are new so I'll be holding onto them just in case, unless I sell them. I'll go find some junkyard fenders and cut them, paint them, and then bolt them on, unless the owner happens to still ahve the old ones. DesertBeast's Chero looked good on 38's like that, gives me some ideas for the future... At least it assures me that 35" tires should certainly fit. Although now whatever I can get that is reasonably tall and plenty knobby will suffice. I like Will's offer, so, Will, you have a pm

i later added a 3" body lift to give them some room to move. :drivin:
