I need to replace some rusted out brake lines on my '79 J20 and was wondering if the J10 and J20 lines are the same. I know the axles are different but the lines seem like they should be the same. I can get prebent kits for the J10 but no one has them for the J20.

Thanks
Dan

where can u get prebent lines for a j series? I needed some for mine at one time and couldn't locate them anywhere....ended up making my own. I know the ones for the wagoneer you can get from the dealer.

About ur original question, I would see no diiference why the actual hard steel lines wouldn't work from a j10 to a j20. Now the rubber hoses up front may be different due to different calipers but the steel lines should have all been the same.

Bent your own!
It's a ton cheaper and it's really pretty easy once you get the $2.99 hand-held tube bender. And have some flare nut/ line wrenches on hand for the fittings. They like to round off really easy.

Inline tube has them for 77 to 85 J10's and Cherokees in stainless and OEM steel.

Unless they are a larger diameter for some reason, a longbed J-10 should be the same as the J-20.

Looking at that inlinetube site, I always wondered if it was just better to bend your own also. You can get 25 foot rolls of brake line, a simple bending tool and the flare tools are not that expensive. My local garage just replaced some lines on my old mans truck and the guy told me he always bends all his own stuff. He never buys custom lines.

I guess it's not like the J-series has any real complicated bends.....
