J.C. Whitney Valve Covers!

I ordered or you could say that I took a gamble and purchased a cheap set of chrome valve covers from J.C. Whitney. The box arrived today. As I opened the box the first thing I noticed was "Made In Taiwan" on the bag the covers were in. I took them out of the bag and realized quickly that these are pretty darn good valve covers. Really good quality and heavy duty. These things I guarantee won't warp like the factory ones. The chrome job on the covers is probably the best I've seen (at least for now).The only thing to check is if the bolt holes actually line up but I'm sure they will. The part number for these valve covers is 381204 at J.C. Whitney's web site and are $27.99. It cost me total,with shipping, $36.98 and so far they have exceeded my expectations. These sure beat the price of other manufacture's jacked up prices. It was a good gamble I think!

You better hope your american engine will accept them. Ease them on gently to reduce the possibility of rejection. :D

I had a set of those on my J4000 but the moisture and winter salt here made them rust pretty quick. The fit was really good except that the indents where the bolts go are a little tighter than on the stock covers. I had to grind a small amount off of the dipstick tube holder that goes on the lower bolt on the left valve cover. Seeing you're in TX, I'm sure that the rust won't be a problem but it might not be a bad idea to put a coat of hi-temp clear on them.

hmmmm. pictures? how much effort is it to get these on? i dont want to take a million things apart just to make one part of my engine pretty, while the rest is black :D

Here are mine just sitting on the heads for a poser shot before I installed the engine. Another thing I thought of was that I have the small half moon-shaped "keepers" under the valve cover bolts. These had to be shaved slightly to fit the indents in the covers.

After plenty of time waiting for the cold weather to be gone, I finally got the valve covers on after installing an Edelbrock intake. They went on perfectly with no issues and they look great. I wish the rest of the Jeep could look that good. I definitely recommend these inexpensive covers.

I scored a pair of similar chrome valve covers from a local car swap meet for $20. They seem nice. Slightly taller and more square than stock. They got heavy carrying them around all day. I'll see what I can do about pictures. . .

I saw a pair of vintage aluminum finned Edelbrock covers stamped "Javelin" on the inside, but the $250 asking price was a bit steep.
