I don't know too much about rear steer, but I think Sumner is doing 14 bolt front axles so I'd think that would be pretty tough in a rear application as well.

Hydrolic pump off the motor to a valve in the cab to a ram on a steerable axle of your choice. Probably get most or all the parts from NorthernTool.com . (http://www.northerntool.com/)

Opens fo me... you have to click on it though:p I saw a quote from 2002 this axle went for $7,000.
Here's John's contact info: http://www.sumnermachine.com/ it uses D60 outer components.

nothing. just turn it around and mount it up.
its a common misconception that if you rotate an axle 180* from its origninal orientation it will rotate the wrong direction, but this is only true if you try and use the axle upside down!
id love to make a 14 bolt front axle, but the oddball 30 spline diff stops me.ill use a 70 rear sos i can set it up to use run of the mill stock 60 shafts.
if i were gonna run rear steer(which i wouldnt, but if was gonna),id try and use an axle with the biggest u joints i could find.in other words, dont bother trying to do rear steer with a front 44
id also use a standard cut front axle. using a HP 60 in the rear will drive the gears on the "coast side" wich is not as strong, just like running a standard cut gear in the front.

 I bet they were the 90 spline ones! Why a centered front diff for 7 big wads I would want an offset diff.

I don't know that the axle above was the $7,000 Sumner unit... prolly not or it would have the 90 spline shafts in it...

I want to see the Transfer Case.............Centered Front output? Cross over under trans and engine oil pan? Two Diffs to push through the center of the trail. 7K............... Must be a JOKE! Or I am completly missing something

high priced axles are out of my reach, can this be done with junkyard axles and parts?

that sounds like a good idea. how would you set up the carrier to accept the 60 shafts, just use a 60 carrier and larger bearings?

Since they are mudders... I bet they are running the t-case in a vertical orientation. Either that or they are just SOOO lazy that they didn't want to cut the C's off and re-tube the diff. I guess I don't see the point of having two huge pig diffs to shave instead of one. To each his own.
At that price you can get a D60 Pro Rock with 35 spline inners and outers BRAND NEW.

Like I tried to communicate above, I got found the quote on the Sumner axle from a different search then where I got the pic of that axle. I doubt WMS would build an axle like the one pictured, that is the only example I could find to post a pic of. There has to be some DIY writeups out there on this though...
