i got a chance to get a dana front out of a F450. i have no idea what dana its gonna be though. what front axles come in those, is it a dana 60 or something else? also is the lug pattern the usual 8 lug? what should i look for? i know that some of the 60's came with ball joints are they all that bad?

Without knowing the year and stuff like that I will take a guess. I am gonna guess 450 super doody? Cant remember off hand if they are 8 lug or a HD 6 lug. Most likely will be set up for dually wheels. Yes, it should have ball joints. And I am pretty sure it uses the seald unit bearing assemblys that are expensive and some say they are not very good. But if you can get it really cheap it might be worth it. Just depends. You have any pics of it?

Ditto on the year

other than that, it's going to be at least a D60, maybe a 70. the bolt pattern on the newer SD Fords is 8 x 175mm. not compatible with any other wheel pattern in existance. I doubt if you could break it with anything short of a diesel, and big tires. Something else in your driveline will most likely go boom first.

I don't think that thing will do you any good. You didn't say what year it is, but it's probably a D50, same as all the other F250-F550 Super Duty's. Nothing to brag about... it's a D60 housing with D44 guts. The F450/550 version uses a huge hub and bolt pattern that is only compatible with the 19.5" wheels.
But, now that you mention it... my F550 is only 2wd, and I'd like to remedy that situation. I also need some 19.5" wheels.
If you don't want it, could you kindly pass on the contact info to me?
I'm really interested.

I have been trying to buy a Dana 80 front out of a 01 F-550.I am sure it is some kind of conversion since it is under a rolled bucket truck that belong to the cable comp.It has the unitized bearing's and the 19.5 wheels, and if I remember right it was 10 lug

Earlier F-450 4wd's were conversion units, probably D70's with the 10-lug bolt-pattern.

Later ones were D60's with the larger Metric 8-lug pattern and unit-bearing hubs.

Not a lot of aftermarket support for either, but the D70 could at least be converted to regular 8-lug outers (if they weren't already, with a simple factory 8-lug to 10-lug adapter).

What year truck is it from?
I was thinking about the '99 and later Super-Duties.
They used a wide 8-lug until a couple years ago when they went back to 10-lug... and the F450 was probably a D60.
I need the stuff to fit a '99.
