My order is in at bullgearinc.com and my D44 high steer kit will be here soon.

Quick question and i am good to go.....

The new perches on the front, should they be welded on at the same angle as the old ones?

ps. did a search but didnt find this answer.

Initialy I welded mine 0* to the old ones, but now I need to remove them and rotate my pinion a few degrees and cut lose my C's and reweld them in place. I just havent had time to do this yet.

I would suggest MOCK-UP MOCK-UP MOCK-UP..... I wish I would have.:banghead:

I will say this... at 0* you will be close.

with 4" springs and SOA my perches were welded at 2*. Not sure by your post how much lift you have.

I am going SOA with stock springs so i should get about 7" of lift (from what i read here) and i know i may need a cv front driveshaft and thats ok too.

I just wasnt sure if i should match the stock angle (for caster and pinion) or if a few degrees extra wouldnt hurt.

Honestly the best way to know is to bolt everything up without welding and point the pinion where you need it. From there tack your perches in then pull it apart and weld it up.

Well I aways get confused on which is which...but I think:

With a CV shaft you want the pinion parallel to the T/C yoke.

With a regular staft you want the pinion pointed at the T/C yoke.

I get those right guys? Or am I mixed up?

aa

Mixed up backwards. CV joint has a pointed pinion. Standard yokes have to be parallel.

I had mine at 0* for a while... I broke 2 front drive shafts... When I swapped to a HD44, I rotated the pinion up 6*... It lined up real nice.. If I were to do it again, I will probably stop at 4* to keep my to-in a bit more true...

I actually did the same. my driveshaft did not look happy up front so I put in shims at the tune of 6*. Works great.

Am I correct in assuming there is no other option for a GM D60? Other than grinding down the PS perch and welding in a new one?

You should be able to find up to 6* shims at your local 4x4 shop for just a few $$...

Thanks for the input guys.
I think i will go with a 4* angle up. This should mate well with the high angle cv driveshaft.

jwwdsn,
Thanks for your order... looking forward to meeting you when I pick up that J-20 utility from jeepfan93 this weekend.
Don't rotate your pinion up on the front end. This will destroy your caster angle. Your truck will wander all over the road and it won't return to center like it should.
If you do rotate the pinion, you need to cut the C's loose and rotate them to restore caster.
You won't need to worry about doing any of this with your set-up. You'll be fine, especially if you're running part time 4wd (ie locking hubs). Just set your new perches parallel to the originals and you're good-to-go.

Now just for the record mine's a trailer queen and she doesn't ride on the pavement. If you do you'll need to turn your Cs. :drivin:
