Thought I'd post some pics of my SOA progress so far. I've finally got both axles under my Wag!! They're a D44 HD front & D60 rear from an 84 J20. I converted the rear to disk & have the eldorado calipers to put on. I built my own spring hangers for the rear out of 3/16" plate, I was going to use square tube, but didn't have any handy when I was making them. I really like how these turned out though. I think they'll be pleanty strong. I have them bolted on right now & when I'm happy with them I'm going to weld them too. I had to move both the front & rear hangers in because the shackle was bent in way too much when the hanger eyes were in line with the old ones. Kinda weird, I thought:huh:.
I still need to finish the steering, swap the 208 transfer case in, put a good fuel tank skid plate in & finish the brakes & I'll be done, for now! Down the road its TFI & TBI, but that can wait for a bit.

Looking good Mike. Just a question. Are you going to have enough room for the rear calipers or caliper bolts. The angle of that pic is deceiving.

Thanks guys! I can't wait to get it on the trail too!
I'm going to put the brakes on in a bit, so we'll see! I hope so, if not, I'll have to re-clock it, I guess.

J10Mike, I checked the calipers the other day & they'll fit just fine, but only because I inboarded the springs! Don't think they'd fit otherwise. I did notice that my calipers don't have the threaded hole for attaching the e-brake brace bracket though. Did yours? I'm pretty sure I can just drill & tap one, but I would've thought it'd be there. One of them did have one, but it was bigger & farther away than the one on the bracket.
Aaron, will do! If you want, the next time I go in the Wrangler, I'll let you know.

I do have a question about the front springs. I placed the stock widetrac tie rod on the front & it's too long, as I figured. I'll try the NT one that I have soon, hopefully it'll work. Anyhow, it seems like it's going to rub on the top of the springs pretty good. Would I be better off taking a leaf or two out of the spring pack, I think it has 7, or on my 78 Cherokee I have springs with only 2 leafs & swap them?

Got the rear brakes all mounted. Had some issues with the piston coming out from moving the ebrake too much though!! I got them back in & hopefully they won't leak.
Anyhow, I put the tires on last night too & it looks Awsome!! They are 33"X12.5"X16.5" that I got from a member here last fall. I got them for a good price to use until I can afford the 36" or 37" that I really want. It's higher than I expected, almost going to need a step stool to get in!! Melissa definitely will!
I used a NT tie rod & drag link & I think it'll work fine. It's adjusted out a little farther than I'd like, but I'm pretty sure there's enough of the ends in the sleeve that it'll be OK. Any chance someone makes a longer threaded shaft tie rod end that will fit?

Thanks everyone! It came from New York, so JTR, your're right, although it really isn't that rusty, just a couple of spots & nothing through.
Nope, no lift other than SOA. I used springs from a 77 J10 on it that were in better shape than the ones that were on it. Actually one of the original front ones was broke.

Looks great! Will you search for bigger tyres now you have the lift?

Definitely! I really want 36" or 37" tires, but I found these for a really good price so I picked them up to use until I save enough to spring for them.

can you get some close up of your brake caliper brackets on the d60? did you make them yourself or buy them, if purchased how much and where at, i got a friend with a d60 that is looking into doing the disk brake conversion.

Here's the disk conversion kit I got. It came with the e-brake bracket parts too. Very high quality parts, I highly recommend them!

I'll get some pics soon. I left my camera at work today, so it'll have to be tomorrow night.

Well in another thread I found out the stock height of the Wag. It looks like my SOA gave me about 9.5" of lift! In yet another thread, it was said that the older J truck & Wag springs have more arch/lift than the later model ones, so by using the 77 J10 springs I seem to have gotten around another 2" of lift over the usual 7" or so!

Malodin, I forgot my darn camera again :(. I'll try to get the pics tomorrow for you.

That's for sure! I've been collecting parts for around a year now & actually working on it for the past two or three months. I'm hoping to have it done by spring, but now I've pretty much decided to build a 203-205 doubler before I have driveshafts modified for the 208 I was going to put in it. Don't want to have to do it twice! Hopefully it won't take too much longer to do that.

Thanks! I can take some pictures if you want, not too much to see, they're just welded on. I went full Hi-Steer since I had a set of flat tops from a parts truck I have.
