i got a 1980 j-10 and im lookin to get about 6 inches of lift and run some 35's. i was wondering if i could get some junkyard springs from different trucks. i am willing to run 2 inch blocks and 2 inch shackles so i need atleast 4 inches of lift with the springs. Thanks, Matt.

There's a trick baby Jeepers use that might work here. If you can snag a pair of leaf packs from an S10 Blazer, Comanche or another spring under truck that doesn't sag you can use the main leaf as an AAL after cutting the eyes off. Only thing is due to the weight of an FSJ I'm not entirely sure how much lift would be gained but I've seen XJ's gain from 4-5"

I've done the hybrid leaf pack on my XJ, you can easily get 5" on the small XJ, lucky if you can get 2" on the FSJ. I'm going to use a 4" chevy leaf pack under my GW main leaf and check for flex and height.
I'm pretty sure I've read that you can use the 52 or 56" chevy springs but don't quote me on it. I have both and will be trying it after the New Year.

if you really want a nice ride and a good off roading suspension. lift shackles and blocks combined are a poor waste of time and money. springover/shackle flip your stock springs or get BJ's 6" lift and you will be comin correct. bj's lift is all the glory of bein lifted and none of the aggravation of fixing the steering on the spring over.

You're basing a complete suspension lift purchase around a pitman arm that you already own? I'd reconsider your motivations, personally.

or instead of the BJ pack get some junk-yard 1/2ton chevy 63" leaf packs,

so when you're in the process of slicing of the and flippin the shackle hangers just slide em back, redrill the center pin holes, (or just move the rear axle back 6")

i put on a set of cRusty's front 6" packs and did 63-chevys in the rear and it sits level..
plus this setup will way out flex any other leaf-pack setup fo-shizzle

kamikaze4x4nj are you talking about running blocks in the frt? or rear? if the frt its never a good idea and would not work anyway as it would lower the jeep.i would just buy the BJs kit or Rustys 6" kit and do it the corect way much safer than trying to build your own.You have a nice truck I would save up and do right the first time.As for the rear a set of AALs and blocks would be fine.

The 2" shackles will only give you 1" of added lift. Go with springs instead of blocks, its much safer. The higher you lift the more you will have to change and the more $$$ it will cost. Lift it only what you really need and not because it looks cool. If you keep it to 4" you probably will only have to use the drop-pittman arm for the steering and longer shocks, and brake lines or brackets and check your driveshafts. To add extra lift in front get the 2" (MAX) longer shackles and that will give you a extra 1" to help level the look. Check out the 4" Black Diamond System from Rocky Mountain Suspension Products, its a great price for a good flexing complete system, cheapest supplier I found.
