I decided to redo my engine this week I have got a new comp cam and 2:02 valves moly guide rods and guides, along with crane roller rockers.roller timeing HEI I have the heads being ported and the valves put in.

the Question is should I punch out the block .30 the engine looks good has less than 20k on it. I am putting a big cam in so I need a little more than 8:1 compression a) should I shave and deck b) get 9:1 or 10:1 and go .30 over or c) all of the above.

where can you get high compression pistons for 360 , Jegs has 70-75 year models listed will these work?

This is my first AMC real build help!! ( I got to shut up my cuz he is a chevy man)
thanks Chris

Im getting ready to rebuild my motor soon also. Pistons should all be the same for all years. I'd bump the compression up for sure. At least 9:1. I was thinking about using 9:1 pistons and then having the block decked to add a little more. Maybe someone else can let us know how much compression would be too much.

I have the 360 in my J4000 punched out .040 over with 9:1 pistons with a mild cam and it is a very ballsy engine. Check out the specs in my signature line.

JL just ordered a set of pistons from fast engine parts. I got a set of SRP forged pistons for 500 out the door kinda high but they had em.

You wont be able to shave the deck to achieve 9-1 without cause the piston to hit the head. You can take .020 off the heads to get very close to 9-1.
