Finally getting the pictures up that BullGear Inc sent us last month. My first FSJ was a 72 J4600 I picked up in Destin FL in 76. It was great for running the beaches in FL panhandle area the 18 months I lived there. Most those beaches are closed to vehicles nowadays... :(
Well, coming full circle here with this one I think. Enjoy.

If that rig weren't already yours I'd have been all over it! Hey, any chance that, as y'all leave Colorado, you'd stop by Maysville and steal my Wag? On second thought, scratch that. I left my guns there too, which might make such adventure a very bad idea.

I finally got a deal to get this thing shipped to Colorado! I had been seriously debating selling it because it was getting to be a real challenge to figure out how to get it here and things really turned around this week. WooHoo!!!!!!!!

Is that a factory option or an aftermarket deal? Does anyone else on here have one? Is that rear wheel set up different than the factory duallys?

Original owner modified it for his vacation camper from what I have heard. It is probably all vintage early 70s work. From the rake on the rear, I am imagining some hefty overloads on it too. ;) I am really thinking this one needs a 401..... It is being picked up tomorrow. I am psyched!
...... and Ryan and I are running to Grand Junction tomorrow to drag home an early Tremors type Gladiator ..... :D

I figured it would be a dually for towing a camper. So does a camper special not have wheel wells in the bed so that a camper can fit in the bed?

That Sir, is a Bad @ss truck! The flares look factory too, they have the same lip around the outside that the normal flares have.

awesome rig:)
you gonna use it for its namesake?
heheh, get me talking about camping and ill talk your ears off:)
im not much of a rock climber, but boy oh boy. Set up a camping trip where we have ot load up the gear and make an adventure? And you will see my eyes light up. The Jeep is the ULTIMATE tool for camping. I even have a nice hunk of camo netting for spreading over the Waggie when i get parked. Im a camping freak i take my camping very seriously:)
With a truck like that? There is so much you could do!!

The DRW is an owner modification, not factory. Camper Special have wheel wells protruding into the bed. Slide in campers are made to fit inbetween them, as with any other FS pickup.
The Camper Specials came with beefier springs, shocks, a ff D60 rear and D44HD with 4.09 gears, slight frame reinforcemnt at the spring hangers, front sway bar, outside bed mount spare tire carrier, HD battery and alternator, 7.50-16 10 ply tires, 4-speed and a V8. Probably some ither junk I'm forgetting.
Glad your finally getting yours home Flint.

I was out most the weekend with Ryan getting his next parts donor in Grand Junction back to Ignacio and wondered if Sampson got loaded up OK. Movin some Jeeps! This here is in Moab looking towards the La Sal Mtns.

Yup, the TH400 was the only optional tranny. And, no sissy QT for these bad boys!:D
I forgot to mention the inbed mounted aux. gas tank.

Yes it's different then the factory duallys as this one uses an axle with wider WMS and then hub extension that bolts between the wheels... gotta pic of what it looks like somewhere. This way it runs all std rims instead of the heavy offset dually rims front and rear (the factory duallys also used an adaptor on the front drums for the dually rims). The factory dually also used a variation of the D70.

Ford is still using this setup today. Different axles and brakes but same, basic setup.

Just talked to the driver. He was pulling into OKC and expects to be here tonight. Long story short, he lost the other vehicle contract he was also bringing to Colorado and had to juggle some things to get a full load out West again. At the price he gave us, we can be patient.
